The high temperature for today was 32°F. It's very sunny, but this time of the year the sun doesn't really have much warmth, and there's only an occasional light breeze. We still have nearly all the snow that fell Sunday night and Monday morning since it has been below freezing this whole time. My son and I shoveled a path up the driveway to the street so we could get to the car (I park on the street when there's snow in the forecast), but we'll wait to fully clear the driveway.

When the snow started falling on Sunday the prediction for our area was "a light dusting to one inch of dry, powdery snow" ... unless the storm tracked further north than expected. Well, the storm did, in fact, track further north. The official total for my town was 6.6 inches of heavy snow. My house is a short walk from the town's northern border, and the next town north got 7 inches. This would have been a routine storm for February, but it was a pretty big snowstorm for mid-December.

We haven't been above freezing since then so the snow hasn't melted, but that should change. Tomorrow we should hit the upper 40s and by Friday we should reach the mid-50s (with some rain). We should have the driveway fully cleared by tomorrow night.

Yesterday an Amazon delivery driver made the mistake of trying to drive down the driveway to deliver some packages. It was a commercial rental van and I assume a seasonal temp worker. She was able to bring the van down better than I would have expected, but there was no way she was going to get back to the street. I gave her a bottle of Pepsi to help pass the time, and offered a bathroom if she needed it. It took a couple of hours for a commercial towing rig to arrive and pull the van out.

I'm also in NJ and received 8.3 inches of snow. A big surprise when I woke up Sunday morning. Wasn't expecting that much. The complex cleared the parking lot Sunday afternoon, and I cleaned off my car for a dentist appointment Monday. It should melt later this week with expected rain and temps in the 50s.

After 2 days of arctic air we've started a warming trend -- from a day with wind chills of 3 F to 60's F in less than a week -- roller coaster weather

Yesterday was a pleasant day; a little bit of drizzle in the morning, but the afternoon was mostly sunny and 11℃. Today it looks like it's going to be cloudy, but it'll be dry and still higher than average temperatures. Which is means we're going to a nearby Christmas market/festival tonight.

From tomorrow we'll get a couple of days with the occasional shower, but still warm for the time of year. From Saturday temperatures will start to drop and the current prediction is that with Christmas it'll be colder than average, around 4℃, with a chance of a little bit of snow. We're spending Christmas Day at my parents' place, but Boxing Day it looks like it'll be a good day just to cocoon and relax at home with comfort food and some movies.
