Does this thread need to move to Politics and Religion?
There are so many at the extremes: Never <> Always. As to forgetting what I am reading: I now resort to DELETING sample chapters (the content, not the notice) because I used to ignore new books at my pushers store, because 'I have read that' only to later find that it was the sample, not the book, that I remembered. |

Most of the anti-AI crowd doesn't care. Just the presence of the code is clearly an anathema to them, and just as clearly they're not interested in any arguments or discussion (as indicated by many posters in this thread who seem to have dropped by only once to state their opinion and then left).

It's the drive-by FUD they leave that bugs me. As if Calibre's AI features are going to "wake up", configure themselves, connect to some random account on an online llvm and take over their computer. It's tech not magic. It can't turn itself on, nor be remotely switched on--in an old version or a newer one. No configured external remote (or local) llvm/account, no AI.

Interesting thread!
For one who knows little: Is there a way to find if a Kindle book has the AI feature before you buy the book. I now have two (perhaps more) ebooks that have it and can’t find a note on Amazon’s page. Is the coding module that provides the AI generic? That is, does it have to be individually written for each book or is it a module that can be added to any book? |

Not sure what you mean by a Kindle book having AI features. Are you talking about Amazon's Story So Far, Ask This Book AI, etc. features? That is not in the book but in the hardware and software end. Even the Scribe's better handwriting transcription requires you to be connected.

So, anyway, I suppose the Calibre right-click-View sends the book title, author to Google Gemini and posts the response.
