thank you for trying to help. unfortunately, i’m not seeing any @page references—but i suspect this is an error on my part given my lack of familiarity with sigil. i’m using mapleread for now and it’s ok. just glad i was able to stop my husband from upgrading.

I got around the issue of not able to progress to the next chapter by using the publisher layout option, the only downside is that it limits the customization like black background and white text. I now also have an old iPhone XS on iOS 18 as reading device for Marvin for reading in the dark

Still no luck with getting Marvin to open. I've updated to the latest IOS 26.2 release candidate, and it still hangs at the loading screen, then crashes. I've tried deleting Marvin, then using iMazing to reinstall from the.ipa file, which failed, then tried installing from an .iMazingapp backup file, which succeeded, but unfortunately Marvin still fails to open. This is on an iPhone 17 Pro Max.
Now on my older iPad, updated to the same iOS beta, Marvin still opens properly. It's a mystery, and so frustrating.

After realizing Marvin was probably gone for good after Apple released iOS 26.2, I started looking for a replacement and found a relatively new app called Readest. Surprisingly, it works very well on iOS 26.2, it’s open source, free, and actively developed. You can report issues on GitHub and join discussions on Reddit.
