Alice Monroe travels to a secluded mountain lake in search of a clean break from her old life, but the quiet she expects never settles in. The marsh beside her cabin begins to press in on her days, shifting in small ways, carrying an ancient pull that seems to notice her before she notices it.

As rumors surface about people who lingered too long near the water, she starts to figure out why.

This is one of my novels that leans into the horror without the loud, pulpy excess that defines much of my other work.
