Could you define "print", I think wiki disagrees with you.

Reading wiki, it is designed for portable documents:

Quote:
Portable Document Format (PDF), standardized as ISO 32000, is a file format developed by Adobe in 1992 to present documents, including text formatting and images, in a manner independent of application software, hardware, and operating systems.[2][3] Based on the PostScript language, each PDF file encapsulates a complete description of a fixed-layout flat document, including the text, fonts, vector graphics, raster images and other information needed to display it. PDF has its roots in "The Camelot Project" initiated by Adobe co-founder John Warnock in 1991.[4] PDF was standardized as ISO 32000 in 2008.[5] It is maintained by ISO TC 171 SC 2 WG8, of which the PDF Association is the committee manager.[6] The last edition as ISO 32000-2:2020 was published in December 2020.[7]
Later, it mentions printing.

I said that "it is designed for portable documents", with the implication (WYSIWYG) that it matches what will be printed.

All actual print* has used PDF for decades. Common in the late 1990s. A Word document, OTOH, might not look the same, might not have same text per page etc, printed by someone else, thus NOT portable.

(I don't mean personal printing on your own computer).

The 1920 x 1080 in landscape only just does Letter and not good enough for A4. The 1600 x 1200 and 1920 x 1200 are only just good enough for A4. Really for desktop you need QHD minimum and ideally 4K on a display just big enough (23″ or more) to be able to turn off Retina/HiDPI mode.
eh, at the end of the day, I think I'm fine with zooming/panning often, so long as I get to keep my eyes healthy... my laptop's screen is QHD, actually, and it's really good for reading PDFs at A4 size, it can even fit two pages at once, but my eyes get burned out too often.

I've been looking around for the past two weeks, and I see a few more options popping up as well, such as the iReader Ocean 3 Plus, or the 7.8inch e-book readers from Boox (Nova Air, Nova 3, Nova 5, Tab 8). Do you think they're similar to the aforementioned e-book readers as well?

Boox is Android, so no, it isn't similar and might be better suited for PDF. I know nothing about iReader.
