Today's high temperature was 51°F. It was cloudy with a brief shower in the morning, but the sun came out in the afternoon. It was pretty windy all day.

We've had a couple of days like this, some even windier, and the trees have now lost almost all their leaves. I have a Japanese maple in the back yard. It's the last tree to lose its leaves in the autumn, but when it does lose its leaves nearly all of them fall at once ... well, all fall within 24 hours of each other. Yesterday afternoon they were nearly all still in the tree and today they were mostly lying on the deck.

Hence the name "Fall", I guess.

We've been having unseasonably warm weather lately. This is about to change. The rain moved in yesterday (looks like all the roof maintenance went okay, so far no leaks) and it rained on and off throughout the night.

Today will be rainy, too and over the weekend there are showers throughout. This weekend we're getting temperatures that are around average (11℃). But next week daytime temperatures will drop to around 6℃ and nighttime temps are just above freezing. The rain will stay and there's a chance of some snow.

It's been very rainy the last couple of days. Today it will be the worst. When it rain temperatures will drop to 3-4℃, during dryer spells it'll rise to around 6℃. Last week we had several days of temperatures between 16℃ and 18℃, so it's been a bit of an adjustment.

It looks like it's currently dry-ish, so I'm going to bring in trashcan. Hopefully it'll stay mostly dry for the next hour or so since I have to go out to get my flu shot.

So today we're having record setting warm temps (77 F here) with bits of the polar vortex arriving later this week. Pixie cat confirms the imminence of cold temps - today I put a new cushy mattress pad on the bed - after I made it up again Pixie promptly tunneled under the covers and snuggled down next to the pillows -haven't seen her since.

It snowed early this morning. Only 1-2cm, but still. The road and sidewalks were too warm, but it stayed on the grass, trees, cars and roofs for a couple of hours. Which was nice. In an hour or two it'll start to rain, and tomorrow temperatures are going to rise to around 7℃ with even higher temperatures later in the week.

But today is a day for cocooning; my sister is off to a friend's birthday party. So I'm going to have lunch (broodje rookworst, yum) and then do some cross stitching whilst watching a movie.

Yesterday it rained a lot from mid afternoon to around 10pm. During the evening the temperature rose to 14℃ just before midnight, after that it dropped to 10℃. Normal daytime temperature this time of year is 7℃.

Today and the next couple of days will be similar. Periods of rain throughout the day and unseasonably warm temperatures.
