So I don't think the new/old devices are at the same build level???
The firmware build level is the last 5 digits of the firmware revision. So 4.44.23552 and 4.38.23552 are the same build level which makes it one of the few times the KLC/CC/CBW firmware has had the same build level as the firmware for the older BT capable Kobo devices.

This has absolutely nothing to do with the firmware installed by a manual/full factory reset which represents the firmware the device was shipped with and which was often updated during the setup procedure.

I installed on my Libra 2, and pulled out my 8BitDo page turner to see if it behaved any better that it did before. It didn't. Just as it did before, it crashed my Libra in the middle of reading, and drained about half of my battery in a period of about 3 hours (half of it reading, half of it off).

I've now turned Bluetooth back off, and so far it is stable for me.

I tend to the belief the changes in Kobo's Bluetooth implementation are intended for Kobo's remote control and is not intended to improve the performance of random non-audio Bluetooth devices.
