The recycling centre charges €7 per car, but larger vehicles by weight (weigh twice). Also they take rubble but not plasterboard (drywall?) because it's composite.
You used to be able to dump anything in a skip (dumpster?) but now there is a list of what they won't take. Mattresses were a problem for a while and you do pay per mattress at the 3 places that take them. Anyone selling a fridge, cooker, washing machine etc is liable for the packing and taking the old one. |

Seemed like it, yeah. The weird part was this older “metal bug” guy who kept hopping into the dumpster and grabbing anything made of metal. I didn’t mind. I respect a side hustle. I just worried he’d slip on a broken chair or cut himself on some junk, so I started stacking the metal on one side so he could reach it easier.
He was a nice enough guy with a really nice truck. One morning I asked, casual and friendly, how much he made doing taking the metal things. He shut down right away and got sort of distant. I wasn’t trying to muscle in on his gig. I was just curious, since he took parts of an old gate I had, broken metal lam, pieces of a weight bench, etc. I even offered to help him load the stuff, but he turned me down. I overthink stuff, so I kept worrying he’d hurt himself. In the end nothing happened and everything was fine. Last edited by tsgreer; 12-06-2025 at 01:32 PM. |

Why do anesthetics often hit me weird. I just got back from the dentist for a filling and he hit me really good with the anesthetic, so good my ear feels numb and not in a good way. It feels like the beginnings of an ear infection.
It also takes a long while to wear off for me. So I'm going to take some painkillers (he also got my gums good), put something fun on the TV and cross stitch for a while. |

I'm not sure what type of anesthetic they use in the Netherlands/at my dentist's office. I'm just glad they always ask whether I want anesthetics or not; my first dentist didn't believe in them, like the pain was punishment for daring to get a cavity.
This time the anesthetics wore off pretty quickly for me, it was gone in 2-3 hours. Last time it took over twice as long. My gums are doing better, though the ones on the outside of my jaw still feel raw. |

AI-generated art on gift bags at dollar store. Santa has one white glove and one red glove (either that, or a badly burned hand).
I'm tired. |

I think this could end up being an important thread for me, after my shopping experience trying to pick out the "right" new, e-reader for me personally
I sure hope Tad is still around, I want his books if he writes them, which ![]() Quote:

Granted I've got enough patterns and kits to last me a decade or more, but then (window)shopping for supplies for your hobby is a hobby in itself. |

I guess I'll share my rant for the last couple times on Youtube looking up reviews. Most of the ones I've found, the people talk like there's something big and ugly chasing them. That and the fact I have to slow the "speed of playback" down a couple notches, and that only help some of the time.
Then some, have to tell about how their life is going but voila, halfway through the 59 minute video (why did I stay with it ??) I cheated and skipped ahead to where I couldn't see their lips moving any longer. I started the video again and their lips were moving, but I got through it. Is the fact I'm missing some brain-cells becoming noticeable? I'm tired too now. I'll probably have the same nightmare where these big, talking hands with fake fingernails are after me.
