You can buy cables that have been certified by the USB-IF that should work correctly. On the downside they do cost more, but you know the old adage: you pays your money...

FWIW my rather overspecced (but certified!) cable from Satechi works fine with my Mac and Inkpad Color 3.

My InkPad Color 3 was not happy with the latest 6.8.3671 update installed via OTA. Auto Sync broke so it would fail to sync when entering standby, preventing the device from turning off after a few hours of inactivity. Aside from battery drain, the device also wouldn't properly wake from standby and would be stuck in a sync state until a hard reboot. Oddly, manual sync seemed to work fine.

I ended up manually reupdating the device (flashed over?) using a fresh copy of 6.8.3671, which fixed the issue.

Hi,
My Inkpad 3 had some troubles with the last update 6.8.3455.
Indeed, after the update some "Vivlio" logos reappeared (It's a French Inkpad but I installed the PocketBook updates) in some menus. The book cover was no longer displayed as I had set it when I turn it OFF.
I turned it off and then realized several hours later that the lighting hadn't gone out.
I turned it on after a very long press on the button and now it seems to be OK... ��

NEW UPDATE INKPAD 4 : 6.8.4143

On the channel through which OTA updates are provided, a new version 6.8.4143 (from 23/09/2024) is already available for download (for now, the update must be downloaded manually).
Which means that it will soon be available via OTA on your Inkpad 4 device.

Does it contain anything interesting? Or since it is just 6.8.<bigger number, looks worryingly like a svn revision> is it just minor fixes?

You've been using Pocketbook for some time, so you've probably noticed that the updates usually don't bring anything extra visible, at least not in such a small build difference as you write. " just minor fixes?"

I have already updated my Inkpad 4 and I am not sure if in the previous version it was possible to select "AUTO" especially for warm and cold light, see the picture?



I did a quick check, opened the book in ePUB, PDF, tried TTS for the audiobook, I didn't notice any changes. It's just that the device is a little more reactive, but it will be more like a fresh installation than a patch

I am still on 6.8.3711 and for for warm and cold light was already possible to choose "Auto". I am glad to know that with new firmware device is a little more reactive (making it slower was impossible )

EDIT:
After installing the latest firmware my device still displayed the notification that the update was available.
It looks like PocketBook may have forgotten to update the new_firmware variable in global.cfg after the update completes.

My device is a PB 740 Inkpad 3, and I just recently got OTA update U740.6.8.4473

It includes new features like DARKmode.
It did however remove koreader so I have to re-install that.

1. New Feature: Device PIN Code Support
Implemented full support for PIN code protection on devices. Users can now secure
their devices by setting a 4- or 6-digit PIN code through the system settings. During
setup, an email address must be linked to enable PIN recovery; confirmation is
required via a link sent to the provided email. The PIN itself is securely stored
locally as a hash — it is never transmitted to the server. Users have the ability to
change or remove the PIN, as well as to update or unlink the recovery email.
The system allows flexible control over when the PIN is required: on device startup,
unlock, USB connection, or disconnection. If the user forgets the PIN, a recovery
flow is available after several failed attempts — this includes sending a signed
request to the server and verifying the user through a secure email link. Wi-Fi can
be enabled even on a locked device to support this recovery scenario. After a full
factory reset, the PIN code is cleared and must be configured again if needed.
2. New Pocketbook x Libby App Added – A new app provides access to public libraries,
allowing users to read e-books or listen to audiobooks from their local library. Users

can be read offline in the built-in reader or listened to online, with options to place
holds, manage loans, and return books early. The app also provides a shelf for
