Angry Can't launch unless I do as administrator

Admin indicates that your USER logon does not have access (rights) to basic directories (eg TEMP) that Calibre needs for worker tasks or the Library folder does not have the FULL rights.

I am not sure what happened to your system (I see your other MR posts with issues).
(I am sticking with W10 as what little I did work with W11, I HATED)

Trying to open without admin, I checked properties, I own the program. I've checked the permissions, no issues. I'm going to do fresh install of Windows, this new laptop of mine has been having lots of issues, only 2 months old. Very frustrated.

It's not Windows 11. I upgraded (or downgraded, depending on your viewpoint ) both my computers from Windows 10 to 11 this summer without any issues. I also didn't like Win 11 much, but with ExplorerPatcher set to imitate Windows 10 taskbar, start menu and other things it's tolerable. True, I don't have any peripherals requiring older drivers. Everything I have works with Windows 11.

You need full permission to use temp and other FOLDERS, Not just to execute Calibre. Something is really broken on YOUR system as ther are THOUSANDS of Calibre 8.14 users

Nothing wrong with Windows 11. I use it and it works well.

Then simply say 'I tried that and it did X'
Admin uses a different User preference file. If one works, the there is something stored (or missing) in the other. Screen position is one that stumbles (and no reason found if only ever 1 screen).
If a Calibre task is running, then this is a common (and fast) recovery: Alt-space M left arrow a few times

Older system Video drivers is another pain (no all old HW have updates) as Calibre QT version (change vid requirements) changes over releases

OK, so I checked all my installed programs.. Calibre is the only one that says owner is SYSTEM instead of my user name. I've attached photo. Does this have anything to do with it and can I simply uninstall and re-install double checking location, owner, etc?
