The plugin has been available since September 20, 2021 and I have not read of any unwanted attention. I think this issue should be fixed.

Remember; this plugin does NOT remove DRM. Rather it just provides an alternate to ADE to fufill an ACSM token; the resulting ePub still contains all DRM.

OK. This plugin now IS appearing in the calibre plugin interface.

@Leseratte_10 Kovidgoyal though recommends that the following change be made to the plugin

One problem though is most posts talking about this plugin use the term DeACSM. So I don't know how much of problem this will be if people go to look or it in calibre.

I have been trying to get this plug in in working on a new Linux MINT 22 desk top. I previously had it working on my Linux 21 desk top. Copying my user profile (with the plug ins did not help) I have tried various versions of Calibre and the one working best was 7.6 (works and accepts dedrm 7.2.1. (MY old pc upgraded from 7.6.0 to 7.7 flatpak on 14 Mar 2024.) I have tried a lot of the suggestions here (including https://github.com/Leseratte10/acsm-...ads/master.zip did not work).

The reason I am posting here is that the ASCM addon included in Calibre 7.6 (ACSM input )not installed. When I tried to install it I got the message pasted below which suggested I posted here. Any help would be welcome.

Try the latest version of calibre and the latest version of DeDRM. What you are using are both old.

I tried 8.14 and it would not install either the ascm or the dedrm plug in. It then crashed.

8.14 is not the current version of calibre. So obviously you did not get it from the official site.

Get calibre from https://calibre-ebook.com. The current version as of now is 8.16.2.

DeACSM isn't included with calibre - you have to install it.

Are you sure you are installing the zip file for DeACSM?

I know early versions can be downloaded. But why would anyone not download the latest version and instead download an older version of the same release? My guess is it came from a repository that doesn't have the latest version and that may be the ASCM Input plugin problem as we know repository versions of calibre can be broken.

As for the name, it's no longer called DeACSM. The name is ACSM Input.

As for DeDRM, you are allowed to help a little such as giving the URL to the latest version.The latest version of DeDRM is available at https://github.com/noDRM/DeDRM_tools_autorelease/tags

Thank you for all the help. It's now up and working. I had not spotted the easy download text on the Vivaldi web site and had thought I had to do a binary install. I use Calibre a lot to download epubs form UK public lending libraries.

If version 8.6 is recent enough for the current ACSM plugin (which it is as demonstrated above) then 8.14 is recent enough for the same plugin.

It's likely (now confirmed) that the poster wasn't installing the correct file. Was going to point them at the discussion a couple of pages back but they figured it out on their own.
