I use Yomu as well and I’ve never noticed that it doesn’t show the page numbers until it was mentioned in this thread. It does have a lovely in-chapter progress bar though.

Is there any other reader that integrates seamlessly with Dropbox and allows you to turn pages by simply tapping instead of swiping? [...]
My ebook app needs are pretty simple. I'm not that fussy about formatting as long as I can change the font and minimize the margins. All I really want is to be able to easily retrieve my books from my dropbox and to tap to turn the pages.
My needs are very simple also, so I just use Books.

Open the Dropbox app on your phone
Find the file you want to open
Tap the three little dots to the right of the file
Choose "Save to Device"
Choose "Books" from the row of app options

I suppose it does depend on your priorities, the lack of those does not matter to me, because I only read fiction these days. A tap in the middle of a page will bring up the normal Apple headers where you can see the time.

Yes, but it makes the right tap go back instead of forward (at least on my copy). I need both to go forward, with a swipe to go back.

There is life after Marvin

Hello

First off, I just wanna clear up two things:
  1. I don't actually speak English—I'm using AI to translate this from Spanish, so please forgive any weird mistakes or errors that pop up.
  2. I used Marvin as my main reader pretty much from the time it came out up until last year. I only left the Apple ecosystem because I was honestly just bored with it. When I did a clean update on my iPhone 14 Pro Max, I totally didn't realize I'd lose the Marvin app. I eventually managed to reinstall it, though, thanks to the tips in a thread on this forum.

I totally get the concern about Marvin being abandoned. I honestly think it's the best epub reader I've ever gotten my hands on. But after switching to a Pixel 9 Pro XL, I found some new epub apps that have versions for iOS and Android, Mac, Windows, Linux, and even the web. I think they're really solid replacements for Marvin, so you might wanna check them out.

I won't talk about MapleRead or Yomu, since as far as I know, they're only on iOS. Here are the ones I'm talking about:
  • Readest: This is my top pick. It syncs across different platforms. It has a free version and a subscription for cloud storage plans. It's super customizable. I just use the free version since I only load the books I'm actively reading on Android, the web, and Windows (using the portable version installed on a USB stick).
  • Koodo Reader: Pretty similar to the one above. It's free and has versions for iOS, Android, Windows, Mac, and Linux. The subscription version gives you cloud storage.
  • Bookfusion: A reader with versions for iOS, Android, and the web. It's free if you just want to read, and there's a subscription if you want cloud storage.

You probably already know them, but if not, you could try them out and see if they're worth using with Marvin.

Greetings from Asturias
