pbAnki - Native Anki Flashcard App for PocketBook

I'm excited to share the first release of pbAnki, a native Anki flashcard application for PocketBook e-readers!

What is it?

pbAnki brings Anki's spaced repetition flashcard system to your PocketBook device. Study your flashcard decks directly on your e-reader without needing to sync through third-party services or deal with slow web interfaces.

Key Features:

• Full Anki collection compatibility - Uses official Anki rslib backend
• Browse deck hierarchies with expand/collapse
• Study cards with proper scheduling
• Four rating options (Again/Hard/Good/Easy) with interval preview
• Real-time deck count updates (new/learning/due cards)
• Type-in answer support for cards with [[type:Field]]
• E-ink optimized UI

Current Limitations:

This is an alpha release with some missing features:
• No AnkiWeb sync (must transfer collection files manually)
• No image rendering yet
• No MathJax/LaTeX support
• Basic UI (functional but minimal)

Installation:

1. Download pbanki.app from the release
2. Copy to: /mnt/ext1/applications/pbanki.app
3. Create folder: /mnt/ext1/applications/pbanki/collection/
4. Copy your collection.anki2 and collection.media/ folder there
5. Launch from Applications menu

Tested On:
• PocketBook Inkpad 3 (SDK 6.8)

Should work on other PocketBook models but untested. Please report your results!

Out of curiosity, there was a pbanki app for PocketBooks last released way back in 2012. Is this new one related to the old one, or completely separate?

I'll put up a public alpha in the course of the week. I hacked this app together during vacations and there are unfourtunately still some bugs to be addressed before a release is possible.

Would someone be kind to post a link that explains what Anki, flashcards, etc. are?

Its a sophisticated learning system using a special repetition algorithm to keep the learning content remembered.

Hello from the future! Has anyone tried this with any success on the PocketBook verse lite? It is sadly the only one currently in my budget.. Thanks in advance! And thanks to the developers, e-ink anki is a lifesaver for students!

I just tried it. Downloaded several collections as apkg files and put it into:
/mnt/ext1/applications/pbanki/collection/
Some of those collections are with pictures and audio. Without this path pbanki just does not start.
After I did this, pbanki started into a recognizable GUI, with pbAnki in the upper left corner and a cloud symbol in the upper right corner.
I couldn't find out how to open a deck.
This GUI looked fine on my Inkpad X (PB1040) but very distorted on my Era Color (PB700K3) - showing all the Icons on the left side (Era Color).
I think it would be good to provide a working collection for test purposes.
