The only executable in the bin folder is the windows .exe file, all the others appear to be simple text files. I am thinking that this may be part of the issue that causes Terminal to throw a permission denied error.

However, I got the same results with the macOS executable posted earlier in this thread, so I think it may be another issue that is stopping the process from running.

I have tested an earlier version of the patches (4.37.21533) and have no problem regenerating them so it is something specific to this version for 4.38.23429.

Does anyone have any ideas for making this work for macOS 26?
Try downloading the patcher from https://github.com/pgaskin/kobopatch...es/tag/v0.16.0 and ee what happens. The Mac and Linux patchers are not text files. They are very much binary.

Is anyone else with a MAc having trouble with the patches using the newest ZIP file in the first post of this thread?

Thanks, Jon. I tried that as well. The only Mac file that downloaded as a binary file was the one another user posted a few days ago. The error occurred with that one as well. I have no idea where to look to fix the issue. Comparing the files for the 2 different patch versions I do not see anything that is different except the kobopatch file and at that point I have reached the terminal depth of my programing knowledge.

Maybe someone else has a clue where to look and any idea how to fix it. If not I will just have to stay on firmware 4.37.

I have managed to convince Terminal that it is an executable binary and the patcher did run until it reached the Customize ComfortLight patch where it could not find the offset.

Commenting out that patch allowed it to finish.

That's good to know the Mac program works.

I posted in the other thread about this patch. If it gets fixed, I'll update the ZIP file in the first post.

I've posted a new version of the patches as there has been a fix to Customize ComfortLight settings.

Most of the patches seem to work, except the "Remove forgotten pin".

Unfortunatly, it was not fixed. It does not crash the process anymore, but the Forgotten pin is still displayed and active even with the patch enabled.

EDIT: I attached the output log.

For Remove forgot pin button from lock screen in fw 4.38.23429, if this one doesn't work
Code:
  - BaseAddress: 0x19A3582 # qss/PinCodeInputDialog.qss
then this one should
Code:
  - BaseAddress: 0x19B3C6E # qss/PinCodeInputDialog.qss
Sorry for any confusion arising from my previous lack of appreciation of the difference between removing the "Forgot your PIN?" message from the lock screen or removing the same message from enabling/disabling Parental Controls.

@JSWolf,
The same confusion/mistake will also be present in the fw 4.43.23418 nickel.yaml BaseAddress "correction" I gave you. Do you want the new correct version or do you want to wait since fw 4.44.23552 is already out. Now I know what I'm looking for the same mistake shouldn't happen again.

Another option would be to tweak and rename the Remove forgot pin button from lock screen patch so that the unwanted "Forgot your PIN?" message is simultaneously removed from both the lock screen and parental controls widgets so that it wouldn't be necessary to figure out by trial and error which BaseAddress belongs to PinCodeInputDialog.qss and which belongs to ParentalControlPinCodeVerifyView.qss. Unfortunately both qss files are identical and without @geek1011's input I have no way of knowing which is which, other than trial and error.

As I don't use a PIN for anything Kobo-related I don't know whether removing the message in both places has a downside.

Thank you for this. I really appreciate it. I think we can wait for the new firmware as I don't think this is used all that much.

Now, what about firmware 4.38.23552 for the Elipsa? That's one that nobody is talking about.

Thank you! That's perfect! I am using both patches to remove the "Forgot pin" from everywhere now!

I don't have an Elipsa, but once v4.38.23552 is released for a device I *do* have then I'll re-check the nickel.yaml patches.
