Plus, I hadn't seen any of the movies in the Alien Franchise.
It's a dark movie alright. Today the sun came out every now and then when I was watching and I had to close the shades on that side of the room otherwise I couldn't see what was happening on screen.

Tomorrow it probably won't be necessary when watching Alien: Resurrection, since it's going to rain pretty much all day.

At Project A34K, we are dedicated to revitalizing the visual experience of the 1992 science fiction horror classic 'Alien ³', giving it all the post-production attention it always deserved. An underrated gem, it perfectly, and unapologetically closes the trilogy of Ellen Ripley's story (clones don't count), and we’re here to see that it looks its best.

The greatest tragedy of Alien ³ has never been the dark turns the story takes, or even the struggles director David Fincher faced during production, causing him to abandon the picture during editing, but that the film has never been presented in a way that quite does it justice.

We have worked for five years to painstakingly clean up every visual effect, bringing viewers a stunning 4K experience, with a full, professional, shot-by shot color regrade to make every frame bolder and more cinematic, all while preserving the gritty, grainy character of the film.

Presenting… Alien³ - The Legacy Cut.

That's probably the one I watched. I have the BluRay box set with the first 6 movies and each movie has a second version. The first one's got the director's cut, all the other ones have a special edition as second version.

I'm really looking forward to the series, it's getting good reviews. Iirc it's set before the first movie.

Yesterday I watched Alien: Resurrection. So far my least favourite in the series. All characters are more like caricatures spouting off one liners. I didn't like Ripley, I know she is a human/droid hybrid clone of the original Ripley, but still. I wasn't surprised when I saw that Joss Whedon wrote the movie.

I might skip the Alien franchise today. I got the flu shot yesterday and I'm feeling a bit off. Maybe tonight if I feel better.

Last night I also watched the first episode of Cracker (or two episodes according to IMDB). A British crime series aired between 1993 and 1995 with a TV movie in 2006, with Robbie Coltraine in the lead and a very young Christopher Eccleston as a DCI. It's very early 1990s dated, but still good. I have the DVD box set, not sure if it's got the movie, otherwise I'll have to find that.

Yesterday I watched Prometheus, the fifth installment of the Alien series and set before the first movie. Very good. I can remember that when I watched it the first time I didn't know it was part of the Alien series so the revelation of the Alien alien at the end was a surprise for me. I know I had seen at least two Alien movies in my teens (I think the first and fourth), but after that I watched the whole series.

This afternoon I watched Alien: Covenant, the sequel to the prequel. Set 10 years after Prometheus. Still a good movie, not as good as it's predecessor.

That only leaves Alien: Romulus for the movies, which I plan to watch tomorrow. This one I haven't seen before.

The series is only 8 episodes long, so I expect to finish that on Thursday at the latest. Which means it's time to start thinking about what to watch next. Another movie series (Hannibal Lecter, El Mariachi, Scream, ...)? Or pick a series to watch. I don't want a long series, I'm slowly working my way through The X-Files, but maybe a rewatch of Harper's Island, The Dresden Files or continuing with the second season of Wynona Earp.

I had forgotten about the movie. I’ve got the series on DVD, but it looks like the movie isn’t available on physical media (yet), at least not in Europe. Can’t find it on my streaming services either, so I will have to check with my VPN in different countries.

You might be able to buy/rent Wynonna Earp: Vengeance from Apple TV. You don't need a subscription. You just need to make an account.

Thanks, I think it might be on Tubi for free, too. Tubi isn't available in the Netherlands, but I've got VPN and it looks like I should be able to install it on my access point. So that'll be a fun project for next week to see if I can get that to work.

Given you have a VPN, if you can get a UK Apple Gift card, you could rent or buy in the UK. You just have to create a UK Apple TV account and use the gift card to rent or buy. The movie is not available in the US but is in the UK. Once you have a UK Apple TV account, you won't need a VPN to use it.

I just took a look on Reelgood and the movie is available on Tubi in the US.

Last Sunday I watched Alien: Romulus, which I thought was good. From Monday I watched the Alien: Earth tv series. Which I was really good. You don't need to have seen the movies to be able to enjoy this TV series. I really loved Timothy Olyphant's character.

Up next is the second season of Wynonna Earp but before that I want to take a little break from TV series and watch a movie or a concert. Not sure what I'm the mood for today yet.

I'm watching the third season of Life After People on National Geographic. It's about what might happen if people just vanished.

Yesterday I watched the first episode of Stranger Things season 5.

On Friday I watched The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, the one with Daniel Craig. It's been a couple of years since I've seen it and it's still good.

On Saturday I watched Wolf Man with Julia Garner. It was okay, I liked the new take on the werewolf story. But ultimately I'm not that into werewolf stories.

We also watched the first half of the last season of Stranger Things. Can't wait for the other 4 episodes over the holidays.

On Saturday we went to drop off some things at the thrift store and of course we had a wander around. My sister bought a set of vintage 1970s Ikea bowls and I bought three dvds. Hero, with Jet Li, special edition with a documentary, Dogma and The Descent. All for less than €4. Dogma I want to eventually replace with a BluRay/4k version, an anniversary edition is going to be released soon but it's not yet known if it's going to be available in Europe.

Today I'll start with the second season of Wynonna Earp, I just watched a recap of season one on YouTube. I also want to watch a couple of movies this week. Not sure which ones, but I'll try to watch things I haven't seen before since lately I've been mostly watching old time favourites.
