[GUI Plugin] Count Pages

I followed the guideline in https://themedium.substack.com/p/how...unt-in-calibre
but got an error in - With the same books selected click the "Count pages" dropdown button and click "Download page/wordcounts - Goodreads."

This is the error ...

I believe it needs a Goodreads identifier set in the MDE.
Another possibility is that title has no entry at Goodreads
You could right click the icon: Estimate

The first new feature for a long time (thanks for the suggestion to Victor239 for requesting this ages ago).

Select a subset (or all) of your books in the library and choose 'Statistic totals for selected books'. This will display a popup dialog with totals and averages of pages, words and other statistic columns if you have them configured for those books.

Can the static page count please be updated to generate counts (but not add to the database) for books that have no counts in the database? If any books are selected that have no count, then the result is incorrect. Thanks.

No, because there is no guarantee that a book can have a count generated for it. The onus is on you the user - if you select books that dont have page counts then you cant expect the "averages" to be correct and should recalculate them.

EDIT: I just saw your bit about "not add to the database" - that would make this whole feature horribly slow and a giant time waste for someone who selects a massive amount of books. Waiting for count pages to go through, calculate the raw stats and then not actually record them against the books? That is a mean form of torture, definite no

Then could you make it throw up an error that at least one selected book has no count? If in my selection, I select a book that doesn't have a count, the numbers are skewed and I may not know it.

Averages will now skip books missing a value for that statistic. Any books missing a statistic will result in a warning added to the dialog.

Count pages isn't loading for me. After the last update it no longer shows up on the toolbar, and I can't add it back to the toolbar. When I go to installed plugins and try to configure it there I get the message, "ERROR: Must restart: You must restart calibre before you can configure the <b>Count Pages</b> plugin" But it still says that after restarting.

I booted into debug mode and got the debug log for you.

Preferences: Get Plugins: Installed to see what is installed.

1.14.3 is the latest (and it works on W10 8.15 Calibre)

I have 1.14.3 that is the version that doesn't work. I tried downgrading to 1.14.1 and that worked.

@Aporatael - not sure why you are using such a necro version of calibre (3.48) but I have updated the plugin to support it. There was an incompatibility with the old version of python that uses and how I had written the code for the new statistics dialog.

I am using calibre 3.48 because that is the best version that works with windows 7 (I will upgrade when it stops working)

You should upgrade to Windows 10 before you need a newer version of calibre.
