Metadata Comments Editor - case change shortcuts

Has something changed? I can't find the dialogue "Preferences for Edit book" that you picture. Under Preferences/Shortcuts there is no "Tools" heading. There is an "Edit book" heading with one shortcut ("T", presumably to edit the selected book). I search Shortcuts for "change", "case", "title case", and so on, but find nothing relevant.

I'm simply looking for a way to make a shortcut for the contextual menu item "Change case/Title case".

In the Book editor itself: Edit->Preferences (Ctrl+P)->Keyboard Shortcuts->Tools

Oh, I see! I actually need the shortcut in the metadata editor (e.g., often in the comments field). I tried setting shortcuts in the book editor and they apparently have no effect in the metadata editor. I assumed there would only be one set of shortcuts for the whole application. Is there a way to create shortcuts for the whole application, or, at least, for the metadata editor?

I don't believe that functionality exists in the Metadata editor (I mean the ability to change case).

Try looking in Preferences => Advanced => Shortcuts if you want to see/set shortcut keys. The attached image shows the edit metadata shortcut possibilities.

AFAIK shortcuts in the Metadata comments editor are hard coded, e.g. Ctrl+B/I/U for Bold/Italic/Underline, Ctrl+L for Insert Link, there are no shortcuts for the Change case options.

And since your issue has nothing to do with the Book editor, I'm moving your posts and the responses to Library Management.

Thanks. Yes, it looks like there's nothing under Preferences => Advanced => Shortcuts. Apparently it can't be done.

The Metadata Editor (MDE) is different than the Book editor (T). The book editor can be used by itself, thus its own preferences.

Since you need to Select text in Comments, already... Right click, change case
In the other fields, you do not need to select if you want all in the field.
You also need to select before using the black square (remove formatting) icon

Thanks. That's just what I've been doing: select, right click, find change case, find title case, click again. After the first few hundred times, one begins to think a shortcut would be nice.

See calibre - Bugs & Enhancements

Post an Enhancement request for some hardcoded shortcuts - I suggest Ctrl+Shift+U/L/S/T/C
