as far as i can see there si lots of folder with each being an ad. so should we copy paste the jb.sh and patchedUks.sqsh in every weird alphanumeric ad folder there is(there is a lot maybe 10/12)?

I feel like I'm so close. I completed the same steps on a Scribe (1st generation, also on 5.18.5.0.1) , and got the French ad of a girl and a telescope, which seems to be a Kindle store ad. Once I replace the page using the batch file, copy it back, and then try to click the ad to kick off the script, it deletes the numerical folder out of the .assets folder, and then it's like the device no longer has ads, but it is also not jailbroken. Am I doing something wrong here?

It won't let me edit my prior post since 5 minutes has passed, but I wanted to say that I got it figured out, and successfully completed the jailbreak on the Scribe as well! The key was that I needed to follow the "Learn More" link for the ad on the home page. I was trying to click the screensaver to launch the ad, which doesn't work, and actually deletes everything, causing you to have to start over. After 4 or 5 tries, I finally got it. Tip for others - once you are on a French account, you can toggle ads off/on in close to real time from the Amazon website, and you should get an instant confirmation on the Kindle. Since I had to try so many times, I got pretty good at disabling/enabling....

@joereader I have the same girl with telescope "visit the kindle store" and it's my understanding that it needs to be an actual ad. I think there has to be multiple ads that aren't that girl if you "view all ads" in the settings of the Kindle. So anyone, from here, do we put the kindle out of airplane mode and sync with wifi/send a book to kindle to trigger an actual ad?
- Wouldn't taking it out of airplane mode and syncing download a newer firmware that blocks the jb?
- With Kindle free space at 60mb this shouldn't be a concern?

I got it ready filling up space when the adbreak exploit came out and read about it then, so maybe things have changed.

The telescope ad actually worked for me. The key was that I had to go to that ad on the home screen and click the "Learn More". With that, it worked for me, and I have a fully functioning jailbreak after that.

Hi, is your 1st gen Scribe 2022 or 2024 release? I don't get ads no matter what I do, but aside from that - I also don't see .System folder (neither Mac via send to kindle nor windows).

Yes, this is a 2022 version Gen 1 Scribe. I did a factory reset and set it up as a French Kindle. I then went to the Amazon website and toggled offers off and then on, and it came through within 1 minute. The toggling on the website was what got that ball rolling for me. They don't show up under the "Show All offers" section, but it does replace the lock screen with a lady and a telescope. Once you get that far, the system .assets folder shows up, and you can perform the remaining steps.

I cannot get ads to trigger. Here is everything I have tried:

• Made a temp amazon.fr account.
• Added valid payment, fr address. Registered kindle to that account.
• Made sure the special offers are turned on.
• Sent a book to the account, to trigger ads. Nothing.
• Even used vpn to change ip to various countries, still nothing.
• Have factory reset the kindle as well.

My device: PW10
Anyone got any brilliant ideas? Or anything I might have missed?

I can get that telescope girl on the home screen, but there's no learn more text. Maybe have to take it out of airplane mode. Remember if you had airplane mode off when doing that?

Same issue. Cant seem to figure out. Got the telescope girl, saw the "learn more", click and I get a turn on WiFi popup. Connected, and nothing happens.

Thank you. I'm trying to do it on gen1 but 2024, reset like 5 times already and set up with French acc - no lock screen ads and no "show all offers" available. I guess g1-24 has quite a bit different FW.

They do differ some what and it is known that the 2024 cannot be jailbroken with AdBreak, only WinterBreak if the firmware is low enough.
