If it doesn't show up as a connected device outside of Calibre either, then try a different USB cable and a different USB port (preferably hosted by a different internal USB controller) on your computer.

Also, especially if you're running Windows, reboot your computer. The first thing to try for any Windows problem is "reboot the computer".

You should be able to replace the battery- they're a battery still used by any number of phones.
