Years ago the council redesigned a busy three way crossing on the edge of the city center. One road came into/out of the city center, back then there was a bus route through the city center. The other two roads were along the canal surrounding the old city center (sort of a ring road), a very busy bus route at the time. The day before the grand opening they decided to do run some test and see if the bus coming out of the city center was able to take the corner onto the ring road towards the bus station. It couldn't, the bend was too tight. The grand opening was delayed a couple of weeks so they could adjust the roads to fit the bus. The whole point of the redesign was to make the traffic flow better so they busses were able to run on schedule.

Not sure what my cousin (father's side) is on, but it must be good to be this delusional.

My aunt had cancer this year, luckily after treatment everything's well and she doing good, if still a bit tired. Apparently she loves my current cross stitch project (The Brunette by Mucha), I've been working on that since mid May and have already clocked over 200 hours on it and expect it to take a total of 250+ hours in the end. I have two or three more weeks to work on it before finishing it. This is a gift for my sister, because she loves Mucha.

Now my cousin wants me to make one for my aunt. And not just make it whenever. They want me to buy the kit, stitch it, have it professionally framed (and pay for that) all before Christmas, so HE can give it to her.

Nope. First of all that is physically impossible, I can stitch about 2 hours a day maximum, with the occasional 2,5 hour session, otherwise I will hurt my shoulder/neck/arm. Second of all, by this time I'm loathing this project, there's too much brown and I'm having difficulty finishing it at the moment. Where there are other projects I might be willing to make again, this is not one of them. I suggested several smaller Mucha cross stitch projects on Etsy, but telling them I need a break from Mucha, so if it isn't a big project (max 2 months work) I might squeeze it in for Christmas next year (I'm even willing to pay for the pattern and materials, not the framing, if I'm credited for the work). He only wants The Brunette.

Then he wanted me to give them the one I'm working on now. I told him that this was always for my sister and if he wants it talk to her. Now I have to wait and see what will happen.

Google "diamond roundabout sydney". Pick-up trucks doing 3 point turns to get around it, other vehicles driving over it

LOL. He hasn't got a creative bone in his body and (like his father) always looks down on people who are creative. Until they want something creative from you. His father was always making fun of me sending out handmade birthday and Christmas cards until I stopped doing sending him a handmade birthday card (I decided I won't be sending out my creations to people who couldn't even be bothered to send me birthday wishes through Facebook or a text message).

It turned into a bit of thing. He did contact my sister, who told him she wasn't willing to give up the Mucha. He then contacted his oldest sister to complain, who apparently tore him a new one. She contacted me to tell me I should ignore him. I told her about my offer to make a smaller piece for next year. She happily accepted that, she picked a design from the ones I selected earlier, she'll be paying for the supplies and I'll also frame it for them. It probably won't be ready from my aunt's birthday in March, I've got several other projects I want to do first, but it'll be ready for Christmas next year.

I woke up this morning with a news alert that north of us there's a contamination found in the water and people should boil it before drinking/cooking/etc. One of the towns affected is where my parents live, but all news reports say "parts of <place names>", so I interpret that as that some areas are affected but not all.

So I go to the website of the water company to check if my parents' postal code is affected and the website is down. Nowhere else do they list the affected postal codes besides the water company's website. It took over an hour for the website to be back online. My parents postal code is on the list, so they have to boil their water, it can take several days for it to be safe to use normally.

IMHO websites of utility companies should be able to handle extra traffic when there's a warning or an outage of some sort.

Someone who does billing for the nursing home my mother is in sent the bill to her. My almost 95 year old mom, who is mildly confused, got the $9,500 bill, which freaked her out. Because, why wouldn't it? $308 per day. So we had the money conversation again. Which she won't remember.

They are supposed to send me the bill, which they have done since April. There must be someone new in the billing office. (Which is not at the same location as the nursing home.)

Ok - I am totally freaking out now ...

DST ended last night and I am going through my twice yearly non-adjustment period - that usually lasts until DST returns ... rinse & repeat, right? Along with the battles over meal times with Pixie cat.

But ... this year - my cat has seamlessly adjusted to the time change. She is a living breathing alarm clock/timer that reminds me when it's time to get up, eat meals, go to bed, etc. - she is a creature of schedule

Last night I stayed up an extra hour - to watch the World Series and reset all the clocks before I went to bed. Normally Pixie cat starts bugging me to go to bed at 10:00 pm and becomes an absolute nightmare if I stay up until 11:00. Last night? She slept on the floor and let me stay up till midnight - with no interference. Today - we got up an hour early - no problem. Lunch is happening an hour late - she's still soundly napping.

Is there a switch somewhere on her that I finally tripped yesterday? Is this a dream? Or is she experimenting on me?

My grandpooch treated today as a chance to get another hour of nap time. Sometimes, I suspect that he has more cat than pit bull and plott hound in his ancestry, impossible as that might be.
