The last book I bought from Amazon (before I realized the DRM change), I was able to download from my Oasis but the cover was not is color. So I downloaded the KFX-ZIP from my Colorsoft and Calibre was able to copy the color cover to the liberated file. I haven't bought a book from Amazon since.

You can get the cover of any Amazon book by going to the book's entry on the Amazon site, clicking the cover and right-clicking to copy the image. Then open the metadata panel in Calibre and right-click on the greyscale cover and click "Paste Cover". OK the change and you are done.

Discs (Audio CD, DVD, BD) are not dead, despite laptops usually not having them built in. VCD is dead.

Pioneer was never a major maker of PC/Mac drives.

Also PC drive isn't the only way to to capture audio or video. Can even be easily done from streaming.

Also Magnetar makes a 4K Blu-Ray player.

The majority bought are either from Panasonic or Sony. And don't forget that you can play discs with a PS5 and an XBox.

I noticed that the cover images from the website come in very low resolution. The cover I got from my Colorsoft is much higher resolution. Just personal preference.

The statement was an exaggeration, but there was some truth behind it. The number of companies manufacturing disc players has shrunk and the number of units each produces has shrunk. Correspondingly, the number of plants the press discs has shrunk. And few brick-and-mortar stores sell them. So, no, discs are not dead, but they're on life support. I like physical media, so I'm hoping they can survive as a niche market.

Instead of keeping physical (dvd, bluray) convert them to mkv and save them on a hard drive that Kodi can access. Play them through Kodi.

What model of Kindle? What version of firmware on the Kindle? What operating system on the computer? Does the Kindle mount on the computer without running calibre?
