Somehow, I expect not. They are still a fairly small operation. Burns Bog is currently listed as “limited release, sold out”. https://www.oddsocietyspirits.com/spirits

Wow! I can't imagine the risk involved in a small startup single-malt distillery, but how fun!
We had a small bourbon distillery try to make a go of it in my podunk town, but they closed before they ever had any product ready for sale. ![]() I'm having some Caribou (Obsidian Blend) coffee (via keurig) this morning. Last edited by DiapDealer; 09-27-2025 at 09:41 AM. |

A new, to me, single malt tonight -- this year's Laird of Fintry Black Label Cask Strength from the Okanagan Spirits Company. A strong vanilla nose from the oak casks, with caramel and leather. A round mouth feel, and a smooth finish that lingers. Not much smoke, but quite delightful. They're doing some interesting things in BC with malt whisky. All taking advantage of our local terroir, with locally grown barley, and local cask sources.

Enjoying a new tin of Lapsang Souchong. Due to changing tea tastes, it's getting harder to find locally.

I'm trying a mix (one bag and one bag) of green tea and black one; I like it as it seems to give more paying attention while reading, instead the coffee boost that after 3 or 4 it's a downer lol, imho
.Spoiler:
Using dried leaves might be more professional, I'll search for some good ones. |

Well, they do ship anywhere in BC for $6. And while I'd agree, most of their shops are not on convenient SkyTrain lines, the Hastings one should be doable.

Well, that was... Disappointing. I just tried another single malt from the Okanagan Spirits Company, 1Malt, whose Laird of Fintry Black Label Cask Strength I had last Friday, and I must say this is very much not up to it's quality. Oh, it's not bad, don't get me wrong. Just nothing that makes me want to buy it again. I suspect this will be saved for my friends who think Cutty Sark is a quality whisky that they save for special occasions while usually drinking Bells or some such. They'll think I'm giving them the good stuff., eh?

A rather largish measure of Laird of Fintry Black Label Cask Strength single malt. Because... users!

Friday Night, Pizza and Single Malt Night. This week it's Burns Bog Single Malt from Odd Society Spirits, another BC distillery doing interesting things with malted barley. This one uses sustainably harvested peat from the famous Burns Bog, the largest raised peat bog in North America.
