I've come across another book (a recent Amazon UK Kindle Daily Deal) which the KFX Import plugin blows up on:

"House of Two Pharaohs" by Wilbur Smith and Mark Chadbourn

The error is:

I assume this is a problem with the formatting of the book, but could the plugin be modified to work around it?

That book has unusual formatting. It includes an image and a letter together within drop caps. I will look at having the plugin handle that case.

It would be much better to fix whatever is going wrong with the current version in case it is affecting others. Can you provide more details on the problem that you are experiencing?

Calibre has slowed down immensely. When I click the mouse on a book, I get the spinning pinwheel. It lasts for about thirty seconds, with a severe response lag when loading a book's information. The entire experience takes a few minutes with intermittent pinwheel activity. Does that make sense?

It sounds like something has gone wrong but I don't see how the change to this plugin could be the cause.

I have attached the previous version of the plugin, 2.27.0, to this post and will leave it up for a limited time in order for you to test whether or not reverting to it improves things for you.

You might inspect your system. Not being a Mac person. these are general

1)Cooling: Fans, grilles and heatsink fins for lint or erratic blade speed (fan going bad)

2)Memory: Does the system still report what it is supposed to (I've had a DIMM come loose / fail. This causes more swapping

3) Storage: A failing drive may do a lot of retries. Check logs or run a S.M.A.R.T. utility
