"We've moved calibre-parallel.exe to your Quarantine..." notification in Norton365

Just got this notification from Norton365:

"We've moved calibre-parallel.exe to your Quarantine because it was infected with IDP.Generic".

https://drive.google.com/file/d/153e...ew?usp=sharing

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1U9i...ew?usp=sharing

But isn't calibre-parallel.exe a valid calibre process?

From my understanding of "IDP.Generic", that's simply a threat category and not something specific like a virus, malware or trojan, right?

I assume what I need to do is just restore the quarantined file (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1NoH...ew?usp=sharing) but would appreciate confirmation. I'm always going to be cautious when notified something has been quarantined because it's been infected with something.

Just wondering why Norton365 is giving me this warning now for the first time after updating to 8.13.0 when I've been using both calibre and Norton 365 for years.

Norton365 Quarantine offers four options:

"Restore"
"Create exclusion & restore"
"Extract"
"Send for analysis"

To encourage you to send them another $100 next year.

There's a fifth option - dump Norton 360.

I feel close to doing so at times.

But just to be clear: From the available options I should use "Create exclusion & restore"?

Thanks for the prompt reply.

Not being at all familiar with Norton, I'd suspect that YES; Create exclusion & restore

Norton (Symantec) has made their business model pushing their products using FUD.
I got tired of fighting what I believe was overly aggressive lockdown.

There are folk out there that do need protection from themselves, but everyone?

Many moons ago I used to use the original Norton Utilities; I *might* briefly have used Norton Antivirusm but moved to using eSet for several years. Now I just rely on MicroSoft Defender

Everything other that windows defender is unnecessarily. It gets the job done.

Ditch Norton, MacAfee etc. Just use MS Defender and:
Turn off remote content in email
Block 3rd party scripts unless the site breaks
Don't click on shortened URLs

Norton is GARBAGE! Get it off of your computer before it does even more damage.

You should not use that option as it should not be an option on your computer as Norton should not be installed. You HAVE to get rid of Norton NOW!

Windows Defender, uBlock Origin, and VirusTotal is really all you need. MalwareBytes Anti-Malware if you suspect something slipped through.

I disagree. All you really need is Microsoft Defender for Windows.

uBlock Origin is an ad blocking browser plugin, so it does something Microsoft Defender doesn't. I would never use a browser long-term without an ad blocker. In my opinion it's almost as important as antivirus software, if not more so.
