To return this to a rant: Why is low moisture, part skim block mozzarella only available in the US?
It's also one of the healthier eating cheeses.
You can add the jalapeños yourself.
I grate it myself for pizza.

Huh? Most local grocery stores have several lower fat pizza mozzarella cheese as blocks. The lowest fat version I've purchased was 17% milk fat and 52% moisture. The low fat pizza mozzarella I use runs about 20% milk fat and 48% moisture. Going by the FDA definitions, either of those would qualify as low moisture (45-52%). Heck, even Costco's mozzarella block is 28% milk fat and 42% moisture which is pretty decent for pizza though the blistering on the 20% is prettier.

As a sidebar, I prefer the way the milk fat is specified in Canada as part of the total weight whereas the USA uses the dry weight. Sadly the packaging only shows the total weight which makes figuring out how much is milk fat is a math problem. Yeah, dry weight is handier for different cheeses since a hard cheese is lower moisture and so has a higher percent of the total weight. OTOH, 100g of mozzarella with 20% milk fat has 20g of milk fat while 100g of medium cheddar cheese with 35% milk fat has 35g of milk fat. Simple, easy. Try the same with the American model where you have to calculate the dry weight of the cheese and then run the calculation.

Probably the best mozzarella I tried for pizza was a Peaks Water Buffalo mozzarella from the Umami Shop but the cost is prohibitive for normal use. OTOH, the blistering was near perfect and it was so stretchy. Fresh pineapple and prosciutto as toppings. Oddly, Hawaiian pizza was a Canadian invention. I sometimes wonder if the Hawaiian was added because of the use of pineapple or if is was used to suggest that it was invented elsewhere. Spam musubi pizza anyone?

In the past in vacation parks there would be a folder in your accommodation with manuals for all the appliances. Not any more. The park I'm in now refers you on their website and in their app to website where you can search all kinds of manuals. Which means that you then have to find out which brand and type you need the manual for, so you have to locate the sticker on the appliance and it isn't always in the most logic of places.

I'm okay with referring to a website but it would be nice if they put a label on the various appliances with manufacturer and type number in an easy to find place so you're not looking for a worn, sometime half peeled off sticker somewhere.

On a positive note, it seems all the cottages surrounding me seem to be empty, including the one attached to my cottage. So that's nice, of course it can change, most likely over the weekend. But not having to take into account the neighbours for at least a couple of days is great.

Yeah, it would be nice if they were all free-standing. I missed something here, where are you generally staying? A beach or something?

Donkey years ago I used to stay at - I don't know how to even describe them.
They were little white wooden free-standing motel rooms with bath.
They were built in a "craftsman" style.
I see that they were generally called "tourist courts" in the US.
I can't seem to find a photo of exactly what I mean.
Most of the photos show strict rows or even semi-attached.
The ones that I'm thinking of were more sprinkled on a hillside by a highway.
When I stayed there the breed was already dying.

I'm staying in the woods, the Utrechtse Heuvelrug, the type of cottage I'm in is the only type of cottage that's semi-detached. It's also not updated yet; all the other types of cottages have been slowly updated in recent years, only this type and the apartments still need updating. So it's dated, tired and worn. But that's reflected in the price. I like the location at the edge of the park, it's quiet, but still within easy walking distance of the amenities.

They finally changed to free wifi and all cottages have their own router, so there's a good connection. Also the water pressure is a 10/10, so even if the cottage is very 1980s and rough around the edges I'm happy.

I eventually found the manual and was able to make a warm snack.

Hot food is one of the best inventions. My attraction to it has grown over time. A hot bowl of anything is always welcome.

Officially it's a car free park; on leave/arrival days (Monday and Friday) you're allowed to drive to your accommodation to load/unload, but after that you have to park in either the garage or the parking lot. There are exemptions of course for those who have mobility problems. But that gets misused (as is common in any of the car free parks I've been to).

I'm about to walk to the shop, not only to get some fresh bread rolls for breakfast and lunch, but also to see if they have the items I forgot to get yesterday (there are always things I forget).
