Is there any way to mark books as read in Mapleread SE as I would like to move such books to their own section without deleting them from the app?

There are book sets you can create. When I first started I created books for each rating like "Read 5 stars" etc. Now I just delete the book from MR. (Note that this is just a copy of the book. I have my original copy stored in Calibre.) It depends on what group you're viewing at the time whether you see them or not. I think the default ones are "all books" and "ungrouped".

Re the issue where the program was skipping the last page of the chapter. I just want to comment that after the latest version came out I have not experienced that problem since. I've probably read 5+ books since then and it has not happened since. Not that it happened a lot to begin with but I would say it might have happened 1 time every book or 2. Thanks for the fix!

Hardware page turner

I'm looking for a bluetooth page turner device that will work with MR on my iPad.

I bought one on Amazon and it doesn't quite work. It puts a cursor on the screen and looks like it tries to turn the page by swiping. This occasionally works but is erratic. It also is erratic in the kindle app.

As a part of my testing, I connected a keyboard to my iPad. I noticed that MR does not support page up/down from the keyboard. The Kindle app does.

At any rate, has anyone found one that reliably works in MR?

A family member set up an 8bitdo micro game controller to be a page turner for my ipad. It's not perfect but it's still better than the 2 piece one I got off amazon. Every once in a while it hiccups and says it can't find the switch. I have to reboot the ipad to get rid on the error banner and then leave it alone for about a day and it seems to resolve itself. It uses the accessibility / switch functionality. I think you have to set up a recipe to define the buttons but I have no idea how to do that.

Game controllers work. You just have to enable them in AssistiveTouch.

I originally tried the 8bitdo SN30 Pro (looks like SNES gamepad) and that worked fine.

I wanted something smaller so I purchased the 8bitdo Lite 2 and Lite SE and both work just as well. I prefer the SE as a page turner. The Lite 2 seems better for actual gaming.

P.S. Bluetooth mouse should also work.

That’s exactly how I do it! I use a DualSense controller and it works like a charm!

If your iPad is not ancient like mine and you happen to have a Magic Trackpad then it should do the trick as well.

Yeah, the Magic Trackpad works, too. Doesn't the Magic Trackpad work on older iPads as well? I remember using it with a 2017 iPad Pro. Getting it to unpair from Mac and pair with iPad did require some Googling.

Honestly, the AppleTV remote with its small trackpad would've made for a nice, compact, handheld controller. Unfortunately, it doesn't work with the iPad.

I bought an 8Bit DO Micro from Amazon. I went through a lot of settings in accessibility including Switch Control without finding something that both worked in MR and didn't interfere with normal operation. Every time I got something to work, I'd find that I got errors when the controller wasn't on or other odd artifacts from having accessibility features on.

I then discovered that the 8 Bit DO Ultimate software app on the App store (not the V2 version) allows reprogramming the keys when the controller is in Keyboard (K) mode. I programmed the Shoulder buttons to the key combinations WIN + Left Arrow and WIN + Right Arrow. It works flawlessly.

The only downside is that as the controller is now your iPad keyboard, you need to turn it off if you want the normal on-screen keyboard to pop-up as usual. I don't have a problem with this as my only use for the controller is for page turns in MR.

iOS 26 and MapleRead

I’m considering upgrading to iOS 26 on my iPad and am wondering if anyone has done that and encountered any compatibility issues with MapleRead.

It was mentioned in the iOS 26 and reading apps thread as being OK.

But thank you for the reminder that I should upgrade my old iPad first and make sure, before I update my main iPad where I do most of my reading.

I upgraded my old IPad first and MapleRead SE works fine on it. My go-to ereader, Marvin, does not. Glad I had an old IPad to check 26 out, my mini IPad is staying on 18 until it dies.
