Hi, I have a KLC and hadn't used it for a while. I had Nickelmenu installed at that time successfully but totally forgot about it. I accidentally signed out of my device (I'd honestly forgotten how to use the whole thing). This totally messed up my previous Nickelmenu when I signed back in. I decided starting fresh with NM was a better idea than going with what I was using. When I installed NM this time, it did load on the dock, but when I click it, I receive 'config error'. Okay, nbd. Since it's been some time, I'll factory reset the device anyway. When it started up again and I logged in.... the unsuccessful Nickelmenu install is still there. Things I've done at this point:
Through all of this, the Nickelmenu persists, even though there is no KoboRoot file anywhere, and no .adds file to put an uninstall file into. What should I do at this point? Thanks for your help! |

On some O/S's the .adds file will not show by default. On a Mac, Finder requries you to press press Cmd + Shift + . to reveal hidden files. Your other option is just to create a .adds/nm directory on the device and create the required uninstall file in that directory. |

Thanks! I didn't know I could just create that myself. It did work to remove the Nickelmenu from my bottom bar, but now as I'm trying to reinstall it following the steps given on the Nickelmenu github, it's failing to appear. When I transfer a clean copy of the tgz file into my .kobo file and then eject, the device does reboot itself, but as soon as it comes up, it immediately tells me that it has 0% battery. The Nickelmemu icon isn't there. But within one minute later, the battery is back to 100% (which is what it should be, since I've been charging it so that should be accurate). If the device doesn't have the Nickelmemu startup file, it doesn't do the 0% battery thing. Any thoughts on what's going on there? Or alternatively, is there some way I could start totally fresh? I really enjoyed the capabilities Nickelmemu allowed you to get into. |
