For the most part, I've used SDHC (up to 32GB). In my Clara HD, I installed a 128GB SDXC card and it worked. The only issue I ran into was when I placed so many ebooks on the Clara HD, that the database size became too large to be kept in memory which slowed searches and other database activities down.

I tried to put serial number into image that I get and used HxD for that
I delete the 000000000 from line 200 and enter the serial from my kobo After that save the changes But when I try to save that image on SD card I have error: A write error occured during processing Is there any other possibility to put my correct serial number into the image? |

Did you use the original or a new SD card?
Did you download the correct zip file, expand it and then copy ALL the contents to the Kobo (ie the upgrade folder, the KoboRoot.tgz fileand the manifest.md5sum) (meaning you should see in the .kobo folder on the device the upgrade folder along with the KoboRoot.tgz and the manifest.md5sum file). |

That makes me think you're not changing the correct location.

I got the image in a PM from the "Kobo µSD Card Image Requests"-thread as my colleagues Kobo Libra 2 had been bricked in a official firmware upgrade, the only snag was that I could not write to the new SD-card with the USB Duplicator Image Writer but I solved it with the Rufus USB-tool to create a bootable USB-media.
That done, I popped the fixed mSD-card into the reader and the reader was unresponsive and the LED didn't blink as it did before, I popped in the corrupted card again, I got the charging light blinking again swapped to the new card again, did the factory reset-thing by holding power and one of the buttons and voila: it's living again and my colleague saved $300 by buying a $9 mSD-card and a lot of help form this forum! I did not change the size as my colleague buys her books from the Kobo store so I didn't wanna risk changing too much but I dabbled with the MiniTool Partition Wizard and it seemed as easy as the guide says. |

Hello,
Just to reports that I have successfully revived my Kobo Clara 2E N506 thanks to DNSB's image ! The curious part, was that on my kobo there was glue inside on each internal connector and the Micro SD card. So I have destroyed the card holder to remove it, but the new one is hold in place with some tape and a few millimeters of soft foam positioned on top of the card, pushing it toward the SD connectors by the back cover. Seems to do the job, but it is clearly not nice from kobo to glue these things just to prevent repairs... ![]() |

Oh right. Next time I will think about it when buying a waterproof device! That does makes repairs very difficult ! :/
