Calibre Reset to Only 1 Library

When I opened Calibre today, the color was reset, all of menus were reset, the layout was reset, and it is only showing a single library.

I've got everything mostly back to normal, but I can't figure out how to get it to see all of the other libraries.

I'm on 8.12.0 and everything was fine yesterday evening. So weird.

How do I reestablish the links to all of my libraries?

• Click on the Library icon,
• Select Switch/create library,
• Browse to the 'missing' library folder (button to right of New location field),
• Make sure Use a previously existing library at the chosen new location is selected
• Click OK.

Another issue that I can't figure out. I've got memo field in the metadata that contain hyperlinks. Both in the edit page and in the book details on the main window, these are not showing as blue and underlined any longer. When I click from normal view to HTML source on the edit window, it clearly shows that the link is still there.

When I'm on the edit window for custom metadata, the memo fields are also not defaulting to showing the memo editing icons. I need to click on the HTML tab and then back to normal for these to show up.

Again, very weird.

That is a weird one, I have a similar column (#links/Links) in all my libraries but I'm using 8.11, I'll install 8.12 portable and see what happens - stayed tuned

There is a plugin to backup your calibre preferences. Install that and then if this ever happens again, you can restore one of your backups. The plugin is called Backup Configuration Folder.

AWESOME! Thank you. I installed it so hopefully one thing less to consider next time.

I went back through my files and found that I'd updated to 8.12.0 on 10/2. No issues until I had to restart my computer this morning. That restart must have screwed stuff up.

Working as expected here in version 8.12 portable.

Do you mean the toolbar icons for Bold Italic . . . Link etc?

Which OS are you using, and which flavour, version?

What appears to have happened to you is that 'something' has clobbered some or all of the global settings in the calibre configuration folder… there's a button in Preferences->Miscellaneous that will open the folder.

There's also an optional plugin, Backup Configuration Folder, that will backup it up whenever calibre closes… highly recommended.

You might also want to consider moving the global configuration folder to a location of your choosing, see CALIBRE_CONFIG_DIRECTORY in calibre user manual: Environment variables

Was calibre running when you did the Restart… that includes the viewer, editor and any calibre background tasks?

No, Calibre was not running when I restarted. I'm always careful to shut it down after I use it. I used it yesterday evening and was working on other things this morning when I restarted.

In discussing the links issue, I'm talking about the 'Books Detail' window in the main screen. I have it set to show title, author, two memo fields with links, and the comments field. Before any links in either the memo fields OR the comments field would show underlined in blue. Now they show like the attached image. Just plain text.

And, the memo fields don't show correctly in the editor. Another image is attached about that.

I'm on Windows 10. Calibre 8.12.0.

I think I'm going to uninstall Calibre and then reinstall it. Somethings not right and I can't think of any other way to fix it.

Also per JSWolf's comment, I already installed the backup plugin.

Okay I'm narrowing it down. It has to do with the color! I wiped out Calibre and reinstalled. Great! Link colors were back but Calibre installs with the dark color set so I changed everything to 'system' and my link colors went away.

So, I adjusted colors and got my links back. Yea!!

Also by wiping out and reinstalling Calibre, the edit window icons for memo fields are back again.

Thank you again for all of the help. I had originally assumed that I was missing a setting somewhere but it seems that things changed for link colors and something just got scrambled for the editor memo field icons.

I'm good to go now.

Looks like the toolbar icons in each of your 'memo' columns somehow got hidden, by default they're shown.

Added: if you change it from Show to Hide or vikky verca in one long text column (including comments) it changes all of them… maybe it should be in Look & Feel->Book Details… that's where I initially looked for it.
