So Marvin’s Gone!

On my phone, ios26 has stopped Marvin working. If I try and read a book, it simply goes to the cover, then the first page, and cycles around the first page continually.
I can jump to a section via the contents, but then I get the same effect.
Does anyone else have the same experience?

If you imported the backup file, that might be causing the problem, as the backup could include pagination data based on the screen size of your old device. In my case, I simply installed the IPA and then copied all the books to the new device. When I launched Marvin 3 for the first time, it detected the books and imported them automatically. I have not experienced any issues with reading or navigating through the books.

How did you get around the lack of IAP restore for full version? If I don't do a phone-to-phone transfer, I can't get rid of the banner.

I do have MarvinSxS but I like having access to both 3 and sxs..

There’s a list of how to do things in the “We thought Marvin was gone…” thread.
That will show you how to reinstall from an IPA file (not sure about sxs but should be the same just use the sxs IPA) it also shows how to reload your library from a backup and how to remove tha banner.

The issue with vertical scrolling is an iOS 26 problem and is discussed in the iOS26 issues thread.

I know how to restore the IPA and Marvin backups. The only thing I was missing was removing the banner.

The IAP transfers over when doing direct device-to-device migration but not through iCloud restore. I was trying to tap the banner while the book was open to restore IAP. Didn't realize I had to do it via Settings.

I didn't have any issues with MarvinSxS since that was already the full app to begin with so no IAP to mess things up.

By the way, I just ran a problematic epub through Sigil, made a few changes and now it works fine on Marvin iOS 26 (both font sizes and pagination). Gonna test another problem epub to confirm and will report the result on the iOS 26 issues thread.

Thank you for posting this my friend. I just discovered today that many of my books open onto a blank screen and I can't use continuous scrolling.

It's so frustrating that Apple does this to us when we're running software that we bought through their App Store on devices that we spent thousands of dollars on.

The other thing that frustrates me is I'm on the 12 Pro Max because I'm afraid to lose my entire book collection and having other apps maybe vanish as well that Apple has deleted from the App Store.

I hate to say it, but I'm almost ready to throw in the towel here and switch to a different book reader. But I would need to find something as versatile as Marvin, which I really love, despite its little flaws. And I would need to figure out how to move my entire library over.

Some of my books work just fine while others had the same issue. I messed around with the problem epubs and thus far I've been able to fix them by removing @page from the stylesheet/css.

Caveat, the fixed epubs are considered new books separate from the ones already in the library. That will break links to existing bookmarks and annotations which are tied to the original epub version.

I used iMazing to connect to the old device and download the IPA to the iMazing library, which prompted me for my Apple ID during the download.

Then I connected the new device and installed the IPA from the iMazing library, it didn’t ask for an Apple ID again.

When I launched Marvin 3 on the new device, the banner was already gone.

I know how to install via iMazing.

The banner doesn't show up if using device-to-device migration. For setup as new or iCloud backup-restore, it has the banner. Anyway, found the instructions to remove the banner on another thread.

I was able to fix my problem epubs by editing them in Sigil and removing @page from the stylesheet/css.

Might be worth trying if you want to continue using Marvin.

Thanks for the heads up. I use my ipads mostly for reading, so I just will stop updating them at IOS 18.7. There is nothing new in IOS26 that I need. Yes, ultimately I'll have to lose Marvin, but that is not today.
