I noticed some of my books worked fine on iOS 26 Marvin while others were stuck on the first two chapters. The problem epubs all came from the same source (and all seem to be created by Calibre). To see if it's possible to make them work, I ran a couple of them through Sigil.
Test 1 Sigil gave a not well formed message for the epub upon opening and fixed it automatically. Sent the fixed epub to Marvin but nope, still didn't work. Test 2 Edited the epub some more. Tools - Restructure Epub to Sigil Norm I also noticed it had two css files. I deleted one which contained just the following code and removed all references to it: Code:
@page { margin-bottom: 5pt; margin-top: 5pt; } Test 3 Tested another problem epub. Sigil did the auto-fix for not well formed documents. This time I only removed the @page css file. The second epub is also working as expected in Marvin. Tested working on the iPhone SE2 (2020) iOS 26.0.1 and iPad 9th generation iPadOS 26.1 dev beta. So at least for my problem epubs, there's a fix available. It's just a bit of a hassle to fix them via Sigil one by one. I think I might try if I can do a batch delete of the extra css file using 7zip and see if iOS 26 Marvin will accept that. Last edited by ilovejedd; 10-05-2025 at 03:26 PM. |

Hmmm. @page might be conflicting with iOS26. I’ll try and confirm.
FYI: I almost exclusively use a single css file and all my epubs pass epubcheck with no errors. So I’m not sure that would be the issue. But… I do use the @page in all my css files which is why I think that may be the culprit. Last edited by Turtle91; 10-05-2025 at 04:34 PM. |

Has anyone restored 26 to 18 from an icloud backup? If so, does it restore Marvin?

If you mean restoring from iOS 18 backup to iOS 26 device, the Marvin library and settings get restored but you'll need to go to Settings - Support Marvin - Restore Tips to remove the banner. |

Also, once the backup has been changed to iOS 26, it can no longer be restored to older iOS versions. You would need an archived iOS 18 backup (e.g. via Finder or iTunes) to be able to restore to 18. |

The problem is not iOS 26. The problem is Marvin is dead. It's not going to be updated to fix the bugs it has and it won't be updated to be fully compatible with iOS/iPadOS 26.

It's not just that Marvin is dead. I'm older and am having a really hard time seeing the ipad os 26 screens. That floating on top stuff makes me nauseous trying to see it.

Thanks, but I had already done that. Still a terrible design. Obviously, designed by the younger generation. As I age, I find more and more apps going by the wayside or updated to unusable for me. There is always the option to going back to paper books and pen and ink. I eventually may have to do that.
