Exclamation Need help with soft-bricked Kindle PW2

Hi! I misread and installed this app (https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=341123) on my jailbroken Kindle PW2 FW 5.16 (I'm pretty sure, can't check it because of the issue), and after running the ";log runme" script included in it, the screen became white and flashing. I hard rebooted it and for a while it showed the screen with inverted colors, however it keeps flickering and now it's fully blank again. It seems to not be completely bricked, since I can reach Kual with some effort, but the screen seems to be unable to refresh properly.

Any help would be appreciated! will include a video when I can.

Okay, after some digging, I think the screen keeps doing a full refresh but ends up being unable to display the interface normally, with
Code:
eips -c
in kterm things get refreshed and I can see the buttons, but when I leave the app things go blank again. I noticed the script I ran had a
Code:
DISPLAY=':0.0'
, so I could assume that it changed a variable that dictates how the screen should work or refresh? I'm not sure.

Is that Kindle detected as a removable disk when you connect it to a computer via USB cable?

If that still work you should be able to copy firmware bin file (that you download from Amazon's website) and trigger firmware install by holding the power button for 15-20s to force a reboot.

That would hopefully fix any files that thing you installed has modified.

As for what firmware is currently on your device: you either don't have 5.16.x on it or you don't have a PW2 but PW3 or newer since the newest firmware available for PW2 is 5.12.x.

Yeah, it is, I can access everything in it.

I've managed to update it to FW 5.18.1 successfully but the screen is still glitchy, every little windows that is displayed flashes several times and now the screen is blank again.

I FIXED IT! I managed to stumble around until I Factory Reset it, which wiped it clean and even the new boot up animations were updated. Thanks for the help!

This seems a lot like hardware failure of the display ribbon cable. Any water/moisture damage recently?
If you are brave enough, open up the Kindle, disconnect the battery, and reseat the ribbon cable for the display. Maybe inspect for damage first

I am extremely careful with my Kindle (I adore it), so I avoid moisture as most as I can. I should open it up sometime to see how the internals are going however, it's already 5 years old, yea.
