I have the same firmware as yours. I can not jailbroke it, just adbreak. Do I need to install hotfix after I adbreak it?

I have a PW 12 (FW 5.17.1.0.4) with WinterBreak. Is it possible (advisable?) to update the firmware and keep the jailbreak respectively apply AdBreak to regain jailbreak? In other words, is there an upgrade path?

Clarification regarding my setup:
- The hack is always placed in the system/.assets folder; I haven’t changed its location or anything like that.
- I enabled the Special Offers from amazon.FR, and I didn’t get any error message or anything unusual.

So, to sum up:
- I enabled Special Offers.
- I left the Kindle connected to the internet for a while.
- I've restarted the kindle.
- After some time, the .assets folder got filled with a subfolder (named 3428219230702) containing the files of the only ad that appeared.
- I've extracted the hack in the .assets and executed the replacement stuff find ...
- From the home screen, I clicked on the ad banner with the "learn more" link.

This is with a Kindle Paperwhite 12th gen. I tried it on 5.18.4.0.1 firmware first, then did a factory reset and updated to 5.18.5, but that had the same issue. The version number seems to be detected correctly and listed in the offsets table, so I'm not sure what's going wrong.

Same issue, I have the same model and 5.18.4.0.1 firmware version. I'm offline while running the script on my Kindle. Initially I thought it was because it didn't have enough space but I left it 1GB of space before running it the second time. Still got the The selected application could not be started error after Bang. Any ideas how to troubleshoot / what to try? It's a ad free Kindle on which I've enabled ads, if that's of any importance.

Followed all instructions here and on kindlemodding.org for post-jailbreak - success with the PW6 (Paperwhite 12th gen) on 5.18.4.0.1.

I am running a Kindle Basic 4 (2022) KT5 on FW: 5.18.5.0.1
The jailbreak fails on step 10.

9. Delete the original .assets folder on the Kindle and replace it with our modified copy.
10. Click on an ad and go through the popups, once you click OK on "Bang!", the jailbreak script should run.

When I klick on the ad, theres a popoup "Version: 455678" with a close button. After clicking on close it throws an "Application Error" Popup and nothing else happens. I never see anything else like the Bang! Popup.
I am already using an updated version of Adbreak from https://kindlemodding.org/jailbreaking/AdBreak/ which contains a line for 455678. So I am wondering where to go from here. Any ideas?

I have my Kindle PW gen 12 jailbroken with Winterbreak. If I un-jailbreak it, and then update to 15.8.4, can I use AdBreak to jailbreak it again?
(the reason I want to update the firmware is to see if it improves the yellow band issue I am experiencing with the kindle)
