I see that some people have downloaded the beta version with the ToC fix, and no one has reported any problems. Does that mean that the issue has been fixed for everyone, or is it still too early to tell?

In my limited testing, the issue seems to have been fixed. ePub 2 NCX and ePub 3 nav document with optional NCX for ePub2 compatibility.

Thanks for letting me know. I think I am going to release the fix then, if people encounter other issues they can always be addressed later.

Changes in this release:

Fixed the Table of Contents update sometimes failing with a "UNIQUE constraint failed" error and messing up the ToC on the device. This also fixes an issue in the same dialog where it sometimes said that the ToC needs to be updated even though it was up to date.
Support showing the changelog in the About dialog

Using calibre 8.12 and KU 2.24.4, with option "Remove Annotation Files", produces the following error:

It should be mentioned that this error also existed using calibre 8.11.1 and KU 2.24.2, so I awaited the new versions hoping it was solved. Apparently not

I too have a problem with annotations;
Back up annotation file doesn't work and tells me the book doesn't have annotations. Yet if I do Copy annotation for selected book the annotations show up correctly.
It's not a huge deal since I can at least back-up my annotations manually, but still thought it was odd.

I last looked at this quite a while back so my memory may not be correct. If I am remembering correctly, the issue you are running into is that ePub books will store annotations in the database and in the annotations file while kepub books will only store annotations in the database.

I just upgraded and it works fine now.

Wondering purpose of option to convert covers to black&white before upload. Was put in when Kobo just BW anyways.

The purpose (at least in part) is to make the covers smaller.

If you aren't short on space or you have a color device, you can just not check that box.

Just to save space. Might speed loading slightly? Curiously on the Original Aura H2O (mono of course) the screenshots were colour. Don't know if they still are.
