I had a Aura 2 with a defective SD-card at hand. It took a while to get it running so I want to share my experience.

I wrote the Kobo_N236_Aura_E2_V1 with USB Duplicator Image Writer on a new card. After re-inserting the card into the Kobo I was unable to get passed the configuration since that in our region the Desktop is unavailable.

In an effort to get along side I did load the pgaskin firmware Kobo Aura Edition 2 v1 4.38.23171 and I noticed that the Kobo reader made an update. However as with the previous step I wasn't able to get pass the configuration.

So I did an effort to get the Desktop elsewhere and I was successful. With the Desktop I was able to configure, so the Kobo is up and running. I'm not convinced whether the previous step was required.

It's a shame that Kobo is creating a lot of e-waste since that all users who haven't access to the Kobo Desktop have a nearly bricked reader when they perform e.g. a factory reset.

Hi, I posted here three years ago and got the Kobo Clara HD image file and unbricked my device. I am not sure where I put the file, but a lot of people are asking me on my Reddit thread if I can share the file with them, even though I linked this forum thread. Why is it necessary to share the image privately? Could I please get a copy again for backup purposes and to share with others?

I would like the image for Kobo Mini N705, please. I have upgraded my Kobo Mini from 2GB to 200GB with Koreader instead of the commercial rubbish that it comes with and used it for many years. But now I would like to sell it, so I need to downgrade it back to a 2GB state with the original system, but I have lost that original 2GB micro sd, sadly. So I need an image, please, in order to restore it to "factory state". Thank you!
