Post "Boomer", the tags are meaningless. OED has first use of 'baby boomer' being from the Brattlebro Daily Reformer in 1963 (i.e at the tail end of the phenomena).

It's about time the Gen X'ers got a proper name - Lucky Generation perhaps.

Actually the "Boomer" are 2 different sub groups lumped together. Lately the second half have been getting the nicknamed "Jonesers".

Only applicable to white Americans? Ok, but still quite applicable to that subgroup. The life experiences are quite different between those groups,

A, B, C, D, Vietnam is a different life experience from no draft, no war, and double digit inflation rates. Which is different from the next group of "latch key kids".

Yet the stupid UK newspapers, especially The Guardian (website) use the terms most days.

Also even if people are a similar age, similar ethnic background and experiences they do not have the same opinions, tastes, desires etc. The whole thing of grouping people by decade to make assumptions about them is a fallacy. So it's lazy and abusive. It doesn't even work for White Americans of the same age and income (which it was invented for) as I've met them when working for or with USA companies (even in USA).

Out of curiosity: How much evidence would it take for you to change your opinion?

Or is your rant based on the idea that a generalization of a large group needs to be 100% applicable to 100% of the individuals in that group or it's useless? In which case, never mind.

I find that most of the people who don't think the behavior attributed to members of generational groups ARE accurate (and complain about their accuracy) are more likely to be in those groups with the oldest living specimens. Sort of a "get that dog off my lawn" effect. How's that for pigeon-holing?

When a cashier sees one of my purchases and casually mentions something about it in passing, that's one thing. But when they read and comment on every single thing they scan, it starts to feel creepily invasive. The checkout lane is not the place for play-by-play commentary on a stranger's purchase decisions.

Randomly developed a mild allergy to bananas. I'm already allergic to mustard and the symptoms are exactly the same.

I feel like I drank kerosene after eating bananas. Horrible stomach ache. Mines more of a histamine response, avocados cause the same thing, which is sad, because I love them.

Pollen-food syndrome, i think it's called. Proteins in foods are similar to those in pollen so immune system gets confused. I think mustard is related to mugwort.

Paw-paw (papaya) tastes like petrol (gasoline), and coriander (cilantro) tastes like carbolic acid (Lifebuoy soap).

In this period I like that at markets there are organic ones at 1.99$ per kg (pardon me if I'm repetitive); I wouldn't buy others as they really don't seem the same. The fact that they are labeled as organic at a good price could be just because the market chain is straight, and others things related to (so not impossible to have them not at 4,90$ per kg).
Anyway they differ from the original Country, as mostly they are harvested while still green and ripens in containers fridges (but imho they're quite good).

My rant is instead having to dismiss the LPG tank, the company changed owners 16 months ago, mine was anyway old and so them have to replace it (the tank is owned by the company); but them also changed contracts and now if buying less than 400 lt per year, the addition is 150$. (So I'm gonna switch with two or three tanks - 64kg each, 120 lt - and changing implant).
Not to mention that years ago, when I wasn't to have installed internet, the salesman that came for the contract had problems because he can't save the document on the tabled, 'cause the application was meant to work only on cloud (not a sheet of paper in his hands).
Anyway, it seems to be solved.

People who unplug a vacuum without first turning it off; and then put it away in that state.

I was idly looking at vacation destinations and visas.
Australia has an electronic visa program which must be done on an Apple/Android app!
Desktop? Nope.

I hate apps. I hate bad one-time apps. I hate the presumption that I have a smart phone.
Why not let people do it online in a browser and print a QR?
I'm definitely sure that a printed piece of paper won't run out of power when I least expect it to.

And even when you DO believe in smart phones, I buy the "SE" which is the tiniest iphone, because it still fits in my pouch. That screen is NOT big enough to fill in a form, especially not when that requires half the screen be the keyboard. Grumble.

I would fill in the form on my iPad -- it's much bigger -- but they've sent me the link in a text message, on my iPhone. Grumble.
