How I managed to set up Dropbox cloud sync with KOReader step by step

Can this be setup in Calibre using the Koreader sync plugin?

summary:
1.
create app> Scoped access > full Dropbox> give it a name
2.
Permissions> write and read for account_info, files.metadata and files.content
(Team permissions will require a business account and they are not necessary for our purpose)
3.
copy appkey and app secret

4.
copy appkey in the next link and click continue continue to get the AUTHORIZATION_CODE:

https://www.dropbox.com/oauth2/authorize?client_id=APPKEYHERE&response_type=code&token_access_type=offline

5.
copy AUTHORIZATION_CODE and APP_KEY:APP_SECRET and use a terminal:

curl.exe https://api.dropbox.com/oauth2/token -d code=AUTHORIZATION_CODE -d grant_type=authorization_code -u APP_KEY:APP_SECRET

6.
save refresh_token

7.
connect kindle an look in koreader/settings/cloudstorage.lua
save it.
(don't copy it by hand, it doesn't worth it)

Tried it twice, but it doesn't work for me with my Kobo Clara BW (even if I guess it doesn't have anything to do with my kobo type).
Everything runs ok since I go to "Cloud storage" in KOReader and click on the appname for Dropbox. I always get the following message :

Cannot fetch list of folder contents. 
Please check your configuration or network connection.

I tried to add or to delete the "/" for Dropbox folder, but it doesn't change anything... and I triple checked the codes I pasted and it's OK.
Any idea ?

First of all, thank you so much OP for your tutorial, I was able to set everything up and it works well!

I was wondering if there is a way to set a favorite, a shortcut or a quick menu item to point to my dropbox storage? Or at least to the "Online Storage" menu?

Had the error:

Cannot fetch list of folder contents

Fixed removing a whitespace inside the ["url"] line and redoing the curl thing to obtain a new refresh token.

1. In my new cloudstorage.lua I changed this

["url"] = " ",

with this:

["url"] = "",

Just wanted to add, that there is now the HighlightSync plugin, which allows to sync highlights, bookmarks and notes via Dropbox.

I've just spent goddamn an hour or two F**KING around with this! The '1' and the 'l' on the App key/App secret section of the developer dropbox website look almost identical. Please do not use imgr. The problem is that it does not work in the UK and we do have a lot of people from the UK. The other problem (such as I'm having now) is that imgr is over capacity a lot of the time and then nobody can see your image. Please edit your post to attach the image so it won't expire and be seen by everyone.

You can also use a monospace font (e.g.; Consolas) and check it in Notepad++ or MS Word. You can always force to change the case to upper/lower case and see what is a letter and what is a number
