I wanted a BT mouse to save a USB port and visited town today. Loads of wireless mouse brands. However EVERY SINGLE ONE used a USB "dongle" and none used BT. So pointless.

Maybe I'll get a real BT mouse online.

The Logitech M240 is a really nice BT mouse. I have two of them.

So, no there are currently no actual LEDs that are natively white, and if what ever that is ever leaves the lab to production it will turn out to be not actually an LED.

I'm afraid that's simply not the case. Monolithic LEDs with multiple quantum wells can produce polychromatic light, including white, to perfectly acceptable CRIs.

Also I don't see a claim of good CIR, in fact the spectrum looks terrible. They are not true white but multiple colours on one chip. It's experimental.

Maybe one day they may or may not be commercial. Plenty of hyped tech failures.

Right now the so-called White LEDs for illumination that you can buy are using phosphors. The R G B LED are not for illumination as they have 3 narrow spectral peaks, they are for indicators and backlights. These lab specimens don't look promising for general illumination and have no commercial timeline. See Optane memory, holographic disks and fusion power.

Actual LEDs do make LCD, OLED and DLP look poor. It should be fabulous if done properly.

Hard to do white light without multiple colours, by definition!

The spectrum of conventional phosphor-coated white LEDs is hardly flat either - typically a sharp blue peak from the LED and a wider yellow peak from the phosphor, though different combinations are available.

Fair point - this should have been moved to the Tech V&R Discussion thread. Mea culpa.

In my defence, it's not always obvious that what is intended to be a simple factual correction will turn into a full-blown discussion, until it's too late.
