Your Favorite Older Kindle Reader?

My two favorite older Kindle readers are the Kindle Voyage and the Kindle Oasis. The Voyage was the first reasonably compact 6" display Kindle with a 300 DPI display and page turn sensors on both sides of the bezel outside the display area. The Oasis had page turn buttons on the right side of the display. Either option helps keep the screen reading area cleaner. I do wish that Amazon would make a modernized Voyage with more memory and the 7" display of the Oasis and current Paperwhite. Would also like the Oasis to be returned to production with USB 3 and other possible updates.

Sold all my Kindles. The one I liked most was the Oasis 3 from 2019, but I didn't like it as much as my Kobos.

The Kindle Paperwhite 5th gen (AKA PW1).

My Kindles have been built so well I don't have a lot to choose from. I had the K3 for many years before replacing it with a Paperwhite 3rd gen, which I used for many years before replacing it with my Oasis 3. The Oasis is discontinued, but my current reader. If it counts as "old", it's my choice.

Keyboard (K3) and Voyage. I also like the Kindle 7th gen - mine are currently linked to family member's accounts so that I can read their books.

Voyage. I used to long for a 7" or 8" Voyage, bur the UI is just too horrid for me now.

Lightweight, small, with page-turn buttons. A 130-gram e-reader with a design that was too risky and misunderstood. Given the lack of enthusiasm it generated, I think Amazon did well to evolve towards affordable, functional... and bland e-readers. That's all you need to read (I have no complaints about the current basic Kindle or Kindle Paperwhite).

I liked both my Voyage (now passed on to a relative) and my current Oasis 3. I really do like page turn controls that aren't just a swipe on the screen.

My favorite is the Kindle Touch. No KFX. And when I use the Kindle Touch to download eBooks, I get mostly KF8 and sometimes Mobi.

I have both a Voyage and Oasis 3. I primarily use the Oasis 3 and my wife now uses the voyage.

Even though I could watch the battery go down during reading, I love(d) my Oasis 3 to death. I gave it to my wife when it became the only device still on USB-micro.

I never owned a Voyage but I probably would have loved it.

Voyage was my favourite followed by the first oasis with its detachable battery cover. I no longer have either of them though.

My most hated Kindle is the DXG, and in fact I think the worst gadget and worst value I ever got, though it was a special offer on one of the last stock dump sales Amazon had. Free express shipping USA to Ireland and the big reduction should have been clues.

I think the PW3 was a cost reduced version of the Voyage. The Oasis 1 was a sort of Voyage MkII (6") and Oasis 2 was an upgrade (7").

I suspect the screen layers were too expensive. That's why it has the good reputation. PW4 seemed to get it wrong, though it only looked inferior beside a PW3 (or most Kobos, or Oasis 2).
