Matcha has two cracks - Page 2

Coloured plastic tends to be of lower quality compared to black. It's a well known fact when buying cameras and lenses that it's better to go with black. Nothing serious, but paint comes off, and coloured plastic is easier to scratch. Cameras tend to retain value well, so the difference in coloured and black isn't insignificant.

For what it may be worth, my chrome cameras showed wear a lot slower than my black cameras. The chrome plating is a lot tougher than black paint.

One thing I have noticed about Kindle cases is they are very hard to take off. I have always been afraid of breaking my Kindle removing the case. So I don’t take the case off once it is on. I can pop my Nooks in and out of the cases very easily, but not Kindle. When my arthritis in my hands is acting up and I want a light reader, I always switch to my Nook GL4 without the case. It’s feather light.

The Kindle cases are very protective but way too hard to get off IMHO.

I've replaced 2 Finte cases on my 2023 iPad (I know; not related here). But the cases keep breaking on the spine. I do fold them all the way back while using. But my previous brand never broke. So I have some agreement with disputing Finte quality.

I never took the iPad out of the case until recently (over heating from many videos); the cracking of the case was before that. No damages to the iPad (but it's more metal).

That's what happened to my Finte case and my Kobo case for my Libra 2.

Just off and they are sending another "like-new" replacement. As the one I received today was rather more what I would describe as "well-used" than like new, I did ask if they could send a new one this time to ensure this didn't happen again. Was told yes, then saw it was "like-new". Ho hum. If this one is damaged, I think I'll just keep my cracked one!

So now I have two Kindle Matchas, both damaged in different ways. My original one has these cracks, but aside from that (quite large issue!), the back is immaculate, so no way do I want to accept someone's old, scuffed return.

It arrives on Wednesday.

Sorry to see that! Maybe you can apply a screen protector on the back to help the back cover stay together?

On a car windshield, people usually drill a tiny circular blind hole to stop the crack propagation. I don’t know if something like this is feasible in this case

I might end up trying something like this if the next replacement is also poor quality. Thanks

Yeah, I would definitely check for her - under a bright light, or in the sun if possible. I didn't notice mine until I decided to read outside in the sunshine.

Yeah, I am forever taking mine out of my case and putting it back in - definitely the cases are a little snug.

Did the crack get any worse since you moved it to the soft back case?
