Well, if that's all you get on a cold boot it's not going to help.
You need: 1) EDL cable (might not work if the abl is damaged) 2) Find the internal test points. Last edited by Renate; 09-12-2025 at 11:21 AM. |

Or are test points something else to look for? If abltest is meant to talk to the Note 2 via the USB-C port on a device that is operating more normally than mine, then I reckon it ain't going to work. I get nothing when plugging into the USB-C port on the bottom of the Note 2 connected to my PC. I have the Google provided USB drivers for the SDK/adb installed. Nothing shows up in Device Manager, no ding-dong from windows that a new device connected. Test on my linux machine as well. With dmesg -w looking for any changes while plugging in, unplugging the Note 2 via its USB port. Through several bootloop cycles, never registers as "seen" by linux. I don't have an EDL cable, but I can order one. Is this to force it into emergency mode? Is this right? 9008 mode? https://www.amazon.com/Mobile-Phone-...=sr_1_6?sr=8-6 https://cablematic.com/en/products/e...chipset-MH041/ Last edited by tatteredscroll; 09-12-2025 at 12:13 PM. |

The UART points are not the EDL ("USB_BOOT") test points.
abltest is just listening to the UART for the right messages to get the timing of typing a lot. There also could be a hardware problem of you typing to the device if it never responds. But we're not seeing the normal boot sequence in u-boot. Yes, if you're Amazon Prime you can order such a sleek cable. You can also buy a crappy USB cable around the corner and make your own. |

I dislike having to open my devices so I open them once and install magnetic switches.
Then I can always get to EDL no matter how bad I brick it. EDL cables only work if the mfg put the test in and the device is halfway working. But you've got yours open already. Why don't you just find the EDL points? Do you have a digital meter (DVM)? Post a photo. |

EDL cable ready. My old eyes aren't good for that fine closeup work, but I managed.
Let's see if these image links work https://ibb.co/tMFr4KZY https://ibb.co/jPdgMKSk Edit: Curiosity got the better of me. Also unsure how well my DIY EDL cable would work or even last (frail tiny wires) I plugged it in and touched exposed black and green together, heard windows ding-dong and now have a QBULK-USB device. Driver was not available so I had Zadig install WinUSB, not sure if that is a suitable driver. Going to order a proper cable in case the current cable doesn't make it. My skills to try and do this again or better if needed are sub-par ![]() edit2: something happened https://ibb.co/6RMTTb1n Last edited by tatteredscroll; 09-12-2025 at 07:13 PM. |

I can see one photo. The other says "Service unavailable".
Ok, so you're in EDL mode. So, use an EDL client (like mine) and find out what the HWID is, because I don't know. |

Probably the EDL points, but measure to ground, don't just short.

Voltmeter on DC volts, _ not ~
Black to the tin can. Red to one point, measure. Red to other point, measure. Did one say zero and the other say 1.8V? Try this: Voltmeter on "diode test" as in photo. Black to tin can. Red to the point that you just measured as zero. Hold that position and with your third hand push the power button for a reset. It should come back automatically as 05c6/9008 EDL mode. If you have Zadig loaded just do this: Code:
edl /l |

Black on frame and red on circular shaped point, 1800 mV. Oops, wrong setting. On DC and mesauring, yes, 0.03 on square and 1.796 on circle. Quote:

It's the dynamic back and forth that makes this so much fun.
I never said "eye". I said "ell". Square is your input. Circle is the voltage source. You can probably safely short the two points together when you need to get back to EDL. |
