I finally present the project. You might already know it under the project https://github.com/BoboTiG/ebook-reader-dict, and this is a rebranding. Still open-source for monolingual dictionaries, and it won't change.
Discover the most comprehensive universal, multilingual and monolingual dictionaries powered by Wiktionary. Bimonthly updates, 180+ languages supported. The supported devices list is quite large: from Kobo to Kindle to PocketBook/Vivlio to OnyxBoox, to any app like KOReader, GoldenDict, and so on. Link: https://www.reader-dict.com Monolingual dictionaries are, and will always be, free to download. If you want to go with a bilingual/universal dictionary, here is a coupon to get 10% off: KICKOFF10 (only 50 free slots, first come first serve). Happy reading! |

I understand that variable pricing might be a slippery slope, but you might wanna consider it in egregious scenarios. For example, I selected "Arabic" as my source and accidentally selected "Catalan" as my destination language (meant to tap English), and I noticed that the "Words count" is only 120.
€14.49 for a dictionary with 20,000 words might seem fair, but it's a little steep for only 120 words! |

Yeah, the pricing is quite complex.
It used to be kind of dynamic, but it was too much to manage, and less clear for users. Three things here: 1. Dictionaries have so much disproportions, as you saw with AR-CA and 120 words; on the other end the all-FR contains almost 6 millions. Is 14.49 "enough" for 6 mllions? Clearly. But removing the extrems, I think the curent price is fair for everyone. 2. Dictionaries with less than 100 words are currently hidden. Maybe, and I think about it from time to time, should we hide dictionaries with less than 1000 words. But then, we will never see "exotic" dictionaries like Lobjan, or Zulu, because there are too few words in the language itself. 3. The single price method, along with the new website (that's why I made the announce only now), introduce the concept of "you pay one time, and get updates without limit". What I tried to say here, is that today the AR-CA dictionary contains 120 words, but tomorrow it might have 10,000, and you would have paid the same price: you pay for a dictionary that will evolve, that's for sure, but also for the service behind. Given the number of dictionaries combinations, I am pretty sure any dictionary can be improved in a day or two to include more words when someones points misses. So you would have paid for 120 words, we improve it (when possible ofc), and a few hours later your exact same dictionary has more words. Not to say we only depends on users, we improve all dictionaries on a daily basis, but focus on more purchased ones, or likely to be purchased. I follow trends, requests here & there, to see which dictionary to prioritize. I hope that gives you a little bit more details. |

Look at the features provided on the website. Give it a try, and compare.
