Hi, recently I found my old kindle and I am starting to use it again. I had it jailbroken, with Kual installed and so on. However it wouldn't worked because of the expired certificate.

So I put this under "keys" folder in my kindle 4 NT and re-run Jailbreak Installer, kindle-MKK installer, Kual installer, but still it says that "this content is not signed by an authorized developer". What should I do? It is not clear to me.

I have tried running rescue packs / jailbreak uninstallers to no avail though.
I even tried fastbooting and flashing it back with amazon original certs but I cannot seem to even get fastboot working through the few ways possible.

I feel quite stuck so any help would be appreciated!

I just used the stock firmware from Amazon for 5.3.7.3 then installed everything again (jailbreak etc).
Firmware was downloaded from Amazon site.

Did you install the DevCerts update? You should have downloaded the DevCerts zip file from here, copied the .bin installer from it to your Kindle's root directory, and then used the "update your kindle" option in the settings menu.

Also, you need to make sure that your Kindle has the latest firmware, version 4.1.4. The latest KUAL version won't work if your firmware isn't up to date.

Yes- when I try the same 5.3.7.3 Amazon update (Drag and drop into the root directory) it doesnt see it as an update file and automatically removes it (Update is greyed out). I can press the update button when doing the 5.3.2.1- but it errors out "Error Code 006" and refuses to go any further.

Just wanted to know if you or anyone else has come across this?

To get KUAL running again but with a backdated system date, I used the following method:

1. Install Mobileread Kindlet Kit (MKK)
Download the “kindle-mkk-20141129-r18833.tar.xz” package from: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=225030
Place the correct update file for your Kindle model in the device’s root directory. For my Kindle DX (DXG), the file was Update_mkk-20141129-dxg-B009_install.bin. Then, install the update via the Kindle’s menu.

2. Use an Older KUAL Build
Use an old version of KUAL-KDK-1.0.azw2. I used the following old version:

Place the KUAL-KDK-1.0.azw2 file into the “documents” folder on your Kindle.

3. Set the Date in the Past
Adjust the Kindle’s system date to a time before the certificate expiration (before April 2025). There are several ways to do this; one simple method (but without flexibility for the date) is using the setdate_kindle_k2_dx.zip utility, from this post: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=365179. You can check current date from the search bar typing ;date and hit Enter from Kindle's keyboard.

4. Now you can run KUAL from the Kindle's menu without an error.

With these steps, KUAL should run again BUT the Kindle’s date is set to the past.
