That would be delightful. They're such a lovely breed with great personalities and very intelligent, but the normal sized ones are just too large for my kind of household. I think big dogs need chronically active pet humans and a lot of property to run around on. I could probably handle a mini one though.

No pictures of the mini's as adults.... and 50 pounds isn't very mini!!!!
But yeah, it'd be great. I had a shelter-dog once that looked like a mini-golden retriever... temperamentally he was like one, too.. Very mellow, smart and sweet. I think he was a spitz/retriever mix. About 20-25 lbs.. Great, great dog. Ooo... I found some pics. |

I had one growing up... he was a sweet dog, but he was dumb as a post. I'm assuming that's not a breed trait and was just Henry's bad luck.. Poor guy, he really was just ridiculously stupid.
And he had the worst smell... no amount of cleaning or grooming or vet visits could get rid of it. I guess some doggies have naturally bad BO, too. |

I wish I had some electronic pics of my Sammy... She was a red English Cocker and smart as they get! She was a beauty too, I could have gone to dogshows with her.
the weird part is, she only started to like swimming when she was about 6 years old, before that, she wouldn't touch water unless it was with her tongue in her drinking bowl... She passed away due to Lyme disease... |

my parents always had stray dogs of various extractions when i was a kid. one of them was far too smart for anyone's good (i'm quite sure she was capable of taking over the world and plotting mass destruction if she decided to). she was probably some sort of dachsund mix (she looked like a dachsund with long yellow fur like a golden retriever) but we couldn't be sure since we found her running down the street, lost, and nobody ever claimed her. she was like an evil mastermind hiding behind a sweet demeanor ; everybody loved her, but you had to keep an eye on her... |

@LadyBlue - so cute!!!
@zelda Yeah, we had lots of strays in and out of our lives, too. Including Henry the Stupid Spaniel. I think we actually had a border collie/black lab mix even... The most interesting we ever had was a couple of Australian shepherds, though.... they were the sweetest, most loving... but demonically intelligent and escape artists. They were so funny, though. |
