When I look at geek1011's site, the Libra Colour, Clara Colour and Clara BW now show 4.42.23296 (May, 2025) as the latest firmware revision, the Aura H2O Edition 2 v1 & v2, the Kobo Aura Edition 2 v1 & v2 now show 4.38.23171 (October 2024). The link for 4.43.23418 for the KLC is no longer seen but still worked for me (I had it saved from earlier).

It would appear that the earlier devices for which I got the largest number of firmware requests have had their firmware rollout paused.

It seems if you have a Libra 2, do not sync and keep WiFi off to prevent it maybe bricking.

Mine upgraded flawlessly, even with NickleMenu installed. I never ever used any patching, though.

My Libra 2 updated without problems (but I have no patches applied, if that matters).

Does this completely erase the Pocket articles you have saved to your Kobo, if you haven't moved over to Instapaper yet?

FWIW, I've been getting emails mostly from Aura 2 users. I haven't tried updating mine yet, but I will if the cause isn't figured out by someone else.

Also, NickelMenu (or any other properly-written NickelHook mod) cannot cause persistent bootloops (if the initial load fails due to incompatibility, nothing will happen; otherwise the failsafe will catch other issues after the first boot, and if that fails too, it won't continue to load). The patches should not survive a successful firmware update, and shouldn't be able to cause problems either.

Would you please be able to check if the list of the patches I've posted (earlier in this thread) just need a new offset in the new firmware? Thanks.

Yes, Pocket is removed from the Kobo and that deletes all the articles. You can migrate your content from Pocket to Instapaper which saves most of your articles. The ones that didn't transfer for me were items which no longer existed.

I let the update proceed because I felt a false sense of security about the failsafe mentality of Nickel*. I do have a feeling it was due to my battery being too low to successfully upgrade. My bad.

I guess with my refurb LIbra 2 replacement I'll probably still put some mods on it, but will also make a mental note to remove the mods before allowing an update to proceed. Or just consider it an old device and never update it again.

I bought a Pocketbook Era Color, btw, just to keep my sleep/read routine going. I'm pretty pissed off about this.

Yeah. I migrated my Pocket to Instapaper and see many articles haven’t migrated. Most of which can be read in the Pocket on the Kobo.
