Hi all,

I have been attempting to get the storyurl to show up on the last page of ebooks so I can click through to it once i've finished the book, like how when you download from ao3 it has a link to leave a comment.

This is what I've currently done to try and get the link to show, but it just gives the text "storyUrl" at the end for any fic I've tried it with.

include_logpage: true
logpage_at_end: true
logpage_entries: storyURL

What would you suggest to make this work? Thank you so much!

It's case sensitive. storyUrl not storyURL. Use titleHTML to get a clickable title link instead of just URL you have to copy.

(Yes, the cases are a bit inconsistent, sorry. It's old.)

What's the best way to exclude a specific fic on AO3 from downloading images when updating the fic?

The image links from this fic are currently broken on AO3, but I have an older epub of the fic with the images. So I've edited the most current epub version to include the images. But now, whenever I go to update using "Update EPUB if New Chapter", it will break the link to the images that I previously added/edited to the epub.

Rather than ask a bunch of questions, can I get a copy of your epub you're trying to update?

Finally got flaresolverr to throw an actual error

Was trying your method of just downloading 100 chapters and got this.

Tried it again with 25 chapters and then FFF gave me a different error

Flaresolverr was still running on the machine despite FFF asking me if it was..

Either the site is extremely flakey, or the site is blocking you. Neither of which are in our control.

You can try drastically increasing the slow down time and timeouts, but I honestly can't think of anything else that can be done from our end.
Code:
## number of seconds to sleep between calls to the story site. May be
## useful if pulling large numbers of stories or if the site is slow.
## The actual sleep time used on each request is a random number
## between 0.5 and 1.5 times slow_down_sleep_time.
slow_down_sleep_time:60

## (FFF's connection timeout to flaresolverr when using FS)
## How long to wait for each HTTP connection to finish in seconds.
## Longer times are better for sites that are slow to respond.
## Shorter times prevent excessive wait when your network or the site
## is down.
connect_timeout:120.0

## What we tell FS to use for it's timeout:
## flaresolverr_proxy_timeout is in integer milliseconds.
## Keep flaresolverr_proxy_timeout set smaller than connect_timeout
## otherwise the connection *to* flaresolverr will timeout first.
flaresolverr_proxy_timeout:115000

Here's the link to the fic:

NSFW links removed

I've been testing it by deleting the last chapter in the epub file, changing the chapter metadata in Calibre to one chapter less, and then running an "Update EPUB if New Chapters", but it keeps deleting or breaking the links to the images in the previous chapters.

I guess I forgot to specify to PM if it's NSFW. I've edited your post. (I did grab a copy first)

Would it help I added that to my sig, I wonder?

Sorry...I thought hiding the link within a spoiler tag would be sufficient.

Well, you don't want include_images:false -- that would remove all images.

Your manual edit <img> tags don't match what FFF expects to see, so it's failing on them. FFF expects each <img> tag to have a longdesc attribute containing the original source image URL.

Here's the last time this came up before. At that time I recommended adding both src and longdesc attributes when editing in images. I don't think I have a better solution now.

An earlier post makes reference to being able to add images by adding an img with absolute file:// or http:// URL.

FFF assumes relative URL <img> tags in chapters are relative to the chapter source page, not relative to the existing epub.

So this is only a problem with the imgs you manually edited. The 'cover' image is also a broken link now, but still works in epub because it still has longdesc.

the error about the bad update because there hasn't been an update translates to website current. Different sites seem to result in different messages, so multiple errors report the same. makes things a lot easier when I only have to look at a half dozen different errors

the 525 error occasionally thrown by A03 the last couple of months, I have it translate to "Too many requests", then I can go back later and select just the stories that threw that error and try to update them again.

want to see what has not thrown an error? just I click on errors twice so it gives a 'search' of #errors:false and get a list of what has thrown no errors since the last time a story was updated

It may not be the most elegant solution out there, but it works and that's what I care about
Can someone help me set something like this up?

Thank you. I'll go through and edit the src and longdesc. Wish I had caught this earlier. I know I have several other fics that I've previously edited/added images to the epub but now won't know which ones I'll need to add src and longdesc to until I update them and find the images missing 😫
