Leave it to the user.

If I install CCR on my 'production system' I won't give it one and if you give it one I'll change it to "None". I might put it Favourites or Book list context menu, but more likely I'll get at it via All Actions (for me that's Ctrl+Alt+A).



I only use kb shortcuts for frequently used actions, for the rest I prefer menu's I can traverse with arrow keys… that's why I like MS ribbons - I can drive them with one finger

1.0.3 fixes that blank/none issue. And I left the CCR shortcut correctly unassigned now.

Not trying to be mean about it, but I personally don't want to index this plugin while it's including an audio player and mp3s.

Adding a 'show/hide' option doesn't really help when it still has the mp3s in the zip and still writes a copy to disk on every Calibre restart, even when the audio player is not shown.

If you really really want Calibre to be playing music, I suggest making a separate plugin for it. And not forcibly including your own music selection. As it is, even if someone liked the feature, but wanted different music, they don't any option to not have your musical choices added back in all the time.

When I first saw the tab, I thought it was because the PI took a lot of time to grind away. Ha! It is quicker than many conversions.

I suggest it go bye as some of those links are to performances that may be under copyright by the original posters. (Just because it is Free to watch, does not invalidate the copyright)

FWIW I use VLC if I want my computer providing entertainment while using Calibre or others).

I forgot to say: any mp3 placed in the sounds dir will be displayed in the dropdown... So the user can have their own music selection

I agree. I see any need for an mp3 player at all. It's just bloat (IMHO). If I want to play music, I have Foobar2000 and Apple Music which I can use to play music.

I really cannot see any sort of alternative other then removing the music player and the sounds directory from the ZIP.

If I Tab into any of the lists to give it keyboard focus, the Ctrl+Tab and Ctrl+Shift+Tab keys do the light fandango on the list.

I changed the toolbar icon size to Small, that event was logged in History, but when I checked "Use two lines for . . ." that event wasn't logged. And there are events logged that I didn't and would never do, e.g. "Interface: Show Average Rating set to True" — BR, Ratings

I haven't seen such a thing when testing those shortcuts...

Regarding the history events: I chose to add some historically troublesome settings like "Search: Highlight search matches instead of restricting the book list to the results changed from False to True"

It's possible that I add more settings on demand to be tracked. But, of course, I added just a small subset of Calibre Settings. There are what, like a thousand settings?

I will remove the average rating setting. This never happened during my tests but I have indeed focused on plugin upgrades and downgrades

Also, could you please try setting a shortcut for CCR? This will give me more useful input for troubleshooting

edit to add: uninstalling the plugin won't delete the current history.

Tab into one of the lists (for Shortcuts I think its 6 Tabs), then press Ctrl+Tab a few times then Ctrl+Shift+Tab a few times - you see the highlight move in 3/4 time as it dances up and down the list… a march (↓ and ↑) is normally a 2/4 time.

More than a thousand, especially if you include plugin settings.

oops: I skipped over: "Events: Plugin installs/updates/removals, some key setting changes, version changes" - sorry

In the following list, the Event Type "Setting changed" confused me. I didn't change any of them at the time indicated, I changed a couple (Hide Tag browser and moving BD) before installing CCR - they are the "CCR install time settings".



I suggest you only report events that happen after CCR is installed or change the install time Event Type to "Initial setting"

I think CCR creates this file "plugin_updates.json", in the Calibre Settings folder. IMO it should be in the Calibre Settings/plugins/calibre_config_reports folder

When testing pre-releases of anything I always start with a clean slate. In this case I bin the contents of Portables\CCR Test, reinstall current portable, install new CCR version.
