Calibre 8.9 Library Question
Hello! I've been using Calibre for a few months for all my ebook management and find it great!!
I recently upgraded to 8.9 and found something I've never had to do with previous upgrades. I clicked on the "Calibre Library" tab and I get a window asking me to select a new library location (with numerous buttons/options). The window shows the current location of the library and wants a new location. ?! Previous upgrades did not do this ... why with 8.9? Why do I need a new location for the library? When you clicked on the Calibre Library icon, you got the first item, Switch/create library, in the drop down action menu for that icon?
It's standard calibre behaviour for toolbar icons that have drop down action menus BR |

That's the Switch/create library popup dialogue window. Which is the first item in the Library icon's drop down. I thought that was the way calibre worked… but there's an inconsistency some icons 'pop' the first action, others 'pop' the action menu.
For curiosities sake I just fired up calibre versions 5, 6 and 7. Back then a left click on the Library icon popped the action menu. I don't know if the change in version 8 is by design or inadvertent. If the latter, IMO its a bug. I should confess, I don't ordinarily make use of the toolbar. Well, you are correct and I'm a dunderhead! When I started 8.9 it opened with the Library listings ... so, when I clicked on "Calibre Library" it gave me the "switch' dialogue ... Duh!
I have no idea why I didn't comprehend that! Senior moment! Thanks for your help!! |

FWIW: the down-arrow on the library toolbar button is removed when there are libraries in the saved list.
Here is the toolbar button when I have opened only one library. And here it is when I have opened two libraries: The down-arrow is removed at calibre startup, not when the additional libraries are opened. |
