You have to attach your image and not use the [img] tags. If you cannot attach due to you post count being too low, report your post and ask for help.

It's not disinformation saying that images need to be attached. Using an [img] tag is not attaching anything. Attaching is the most reliable way to post images.

But you said more than that, not for the first time you took a WAG that the reason that an image didn't appear might be due to the OPs post count. AFAIK not such restriction exists… perhaps an Admin can confirm.

I just demonstrated it didn't appear because of the image host the OP chose to use. The Postimage site is not the only image site that MR barfs on, I've come across two or three others when fixing that same issues.

Edit: Thinking about this, I was about to suggest a rating_to_stars() function, only to discover it is already there, and it uses halfstars as well.

For me, the real advantage to attaching images to your message is that they will be there later. Many message that used [img] tags and where the site still allows third party connections now give 404 errors since the content is no longer on the remote site.

This is exciting, granted, I am not sure what most of the code means. I didn't know that there was functionality for half stars. Is that something that can be used for the built-in rating system in the default metadata screen?

**Alien-made plugin** Hi! I needed a specific plugin and, not being able to code properly, I have asked an AI (Perplexity) to develop it. After several iteration I got one plugin, apparently working fine (attached) and would like to share it here in the hope that someone in this forum could have a look at it and tell me if it contains any dangerous code OR (better) if it could be improved in terms of efficiency or just speed. Having not the capacity to evaluate it, I am not proposing it in the list of new plugins until someone else have a proper look at it.

The actions requested to (and apparently performed by) the plugin are the following: 1) load data from a CSV external file containing a list of authors and corresponding tags; 2) for each author in the external list, check if the Calibre library contains titles by that author, and 3) add corresponding tags from the external file to the autor titles found in Calibre.

My wish is to to use it to tag books authored by e.g. Nobel Prize Laureates, winner of other prizes awarded to the person rather than to the book, representatives of literary groups, etc.

where #my_numeric_column is the lookup name for an integer or float custom column.

If you want half stars then use this
