How to stop the automatic backup

Im tired of Calibre taking forever to close and I am not happy that I have a ton of backup .zips in the calibre-backup folder in appdata>roming.

How can I stop this? I would prefer to initate the saving of backups rather than having it do it every time I close out. I recall selecting to "back up calibre settings" ONCE. Is it happening every time now?

EDIT
I guess it was a plugin - sorry.

I think your edit says this, but are you talking about the backup configuration folder plugin? If so there is no way to ask on demand. It is either on or off.

As for a "ton" of backups, did you set the "Days to keep all backups" and "Days to keep last backup" settings? These control how many backups it saves per day and how many days of backups are saved.

Why not set up FreeFileSync to create a backup of what you want (You can have more than on set of choices) if all you want is 'on demand'.

FWIW I rarely change 'settings' (I do not use any 'lists' type PI), So when I do ( any major change) , I usually fire off a BU BEFORE I muck things up.

Real (longer term) Backups should NOT be kept on the same computer or drive (or even same SITE).
One of the main reasons is Drives fail. Computers die. Or the house burns down (I have a relative that lived in Altadena. They only managed to save their Dogs and cars. That was how little time they had. They were in the middle of town and never expected an issue like happened.)

About the only way to stop that is to disable or uninstall the Backup Configuration Folder plugin (under Library closed in the plugin list). Since it is a user installed plugin, you need to have selected installing the plugin.
